I took this on the way home from vacation last week. Shot from the upper deck of the Cape May-Lewes ferry on the way out from Cape May, NJ. I would have liked it if the water was glass and the sun was reflecting but ya take what ya get.

I like this. The line of the jetty makes me start at right with the tower and people adding interest and then is drawn easily to the fisherman.
Very nice. I like that the colors in the sky aren't overdone.
The color, sharpness and composition all seem a-ok.
The only problem I have with the shot is there doesn't seem to be anything happening. There are a few folks in there but they're too far away to play any role (matter of fact, I almost wish they were not there at all since they're more a tease than anything..)
Pretty spot btw

Thanks guys! There's very little post work done on this shot, which is why I posted it. A little unsharp, a slight bump in exposure and a couple degrees of temp. The RAW and the final look almost identical. It's rare when I get one right in the camera so your input about color and comp are much appreciated.
I would have killed for there to be another fisherman casting or a boat or something like that but, we were headed out on the ferry and I ran up to the top deck when I saw the shot developing. (is that a bad sign?)
GB - I have an office in Hyattsville. There's a lot of revitalization work going on in that area.

love this shot. I'm a sucker for simple yet strong scenes like this. Well done.

Unlike you I am glad the sea isn't like a mirror it adds to the impression of the power of mother nature. I think you got just the right amount of sun reflection in the water next to the pier. I really like the fishermen as it adds to the tranquil nature of the shot
Nice angle on the pier and well composed.
This is terrific and one of the best sunsets I have seen in a long time.

I like it except for one thing. Everything, except the sun, seems a little too centered. The tower on the left is the same distance in as the fisherman on the right.

I think it's very nicely framed. The only thing I would try different next time is wait for the sun to get lower, down to where it touches the horizon. That should give you a more vibrant sunset and better color.

LOL, I would have if we weren't moving. I only had about 2 minutes to run up to the upper deck and get that shot before we were out of the inlet. :)

Wow, thanks! I see your point about the chop.
