View Full Version : Flowers and the Bugs that love them... julsoph 06-21-2007, 06:19 PM I took a few today of some mums and bees and a few other bugs... Emily julsoph 06-21-2007, 06:21 PM And a couple more...I'm not sure what this bug is, but my daughter and I call it the "doinky doinky" bug...after one in her Baby Einstein videos...:p scott-devon 06-22-2007, 04:42 AM The 2nd and 3rd shots of the bee are real nice. Heck, all of them are good. Yarrow 06-22-2007, 04:52 AM Beautiful shots! I have been trying out macro. How do you get so close without scaring off the bug or getting a photo of a big blurred object? Loupey 06-22-2007, 09:13 AM I like how the two bees in the first image appear to be chasing each other :p I believe the other bug is a longhorn beetle. polarbeardiggers 06-22-2007, 10:24 AM i love the way you got so close to the bee's, you must have very fast button like reflexes,i've tried getting close to the bees but just as the camera focus locks, they would busy themselves off to the next flower, i wish i could get close and so great shots as you have pulled off. julsoph 06-22-2007, 05:19 PM Thanks Scott, Yarrow, Loupey and polarbear! :) I used my Quantaray 70-300mm for these...it has a macro setting, so I didn't have to get super close to any of these (which actually made me happy...lol). I just got within about 5-6 feet and tried to stay as still as possible. With the bees, if you start focussing as soon as they land on the flower, you have a small amount of time to grab a shot...then they pop over to the next one. :) Emily |
