Today was my first try at HS Track & Field. I haven't even been to a meet since my brother was in school.(Too long to mention!):rolleyes: Light wasn't good due to late afternoon sun. Various shutter and aperture settings to adapt to the setting sun, ISO 200, 80-200 2.8 AF-D.

Pretty darned good considering it was your first. I've never shot track myself, and I have a chance next week, so I hope to give it a shot.

Nice job, the only thing I'd say is to shoot the runner verticle as well.

I agree for a first time out these are winners. The discus shot is the one that goes to the head of the class. You have the peak action on it and the expressing is great. My suggestion for it is to crop it a little closer to emphasize the strong parts of the image. As to nits on the series, watch you backgrounds. Try to eliminate or deemphasize the distraction in the background. Get lower, get higher, move left or right, use a wider aperture to throw the backgrounds out of focus but do something to try and keep the attention on the athlete and not the various subjects in the background. Overall a great job. Wish I had a little more T & F to shoot this season. I have attended the KY State Championship Track Meet a few time and it is impossible to shoot unless you have top notch creds and they are hard to get.
