Not sure but these could be a first for the sports thread, at least that I've seen. Maybe not what you think of when you think of traditional sports, and might be border line on actually being a sport depending on how you classify it, but I just wanted to share these.

These shots are some of what I got the other day shooting a disc golf tournament here on campus for the school paper. Had a little trouble with the bright sun and shadows around the holes and tees. But I didn't think they turned out all that bad for being asked to do this last minute, the paper seems good about last minute and always being in a rush on stuff.

Like real golf the most action happens at the tee box and at the pins (holes) so I tried to get that as best I could. The photo editor for the paper seemed to like them. What do you guys think of them?

hmmmm, yeah, I think your right, I don't remember seeing this type of thing here before, or anywhere for that matter :) Some consider golf a sport, but this is more sports than golf in my opinion :D as it is more physical than golf.
The paper sounds like the one I shoot for, although at times they call me after stuff already started :confused:
So what school is this? I am an old UMD and Gopher fan but as you can see I live in Indiana....I still pull for the Bulldogs and Gophers though :D

Ya I had told the paper I couldn't shoot it since I had to be at an art matrix for photo class, then was more or less begged to do it last minute. So when I got there the tournament had already started and the groups of players were all out playing around, so half the fun was trying to find them all wandering around the the 18 holes spread all around campus. :rolleyes:

I go to Bethel University, down in the cities area. At least till the end of this year, gonna transfer for next year, but thats a different story. Glad to hear you still root for the Gophers and Bulldogs.

To give you an idea how long I have rooted for UMD and U of M as well as the Twins and Vikings.... the Twins had Harmon Kilabrew and Rod Carew, the Vikings were the Purple People Eaters, UMD had Glenn Resch in goal, Oh and the Minnesota North Stars had Phil Goldworthy & Ceasar Maniago and the Fighting Saints came and went along with the WHL.... 1968-1973 was when I lived in Duluth :eek:

The old coach wasn't bad, but hey if they do even better thats a plus. They kind of lost some excellent players though.
Being here I am stuckj with IU & Purdue news, and this coming season IU may give some of the Big 10 fits. They have a really good back in Josiah Sears from Greenfield Central who has gotten bigger the past couple years. I can't wait to see what he does as the main man, he didn't have a bad season last year....I see IU getting a bowl bid this year. They also have some really good passing this year...should be interesting.

I was just down at Purdue last weekend. They have a great indoor facility, and I like Coach Tiller and Coach Spack. By the way, west lafayette is beatiful...you have to try "The Rib Pit" across the bridge going over the river and train station on the Purdue side. Flat out awesome ribs.

You're right, U of Minn didn't have a bad coach, Coach Mason was respectable on many fronts...but the inability to execute a punt against Wisconsin two years ago really upset some of the "higher up alumni" and started the push to get him out...and since then were looking for a way to get rid of him. If they wouldn't have fallen so flat in the Bowl game, he very likely would have kept his job. At least you you finally have a solid Hoops coach.

Indiana has a good coach in Hoopner, it will be interesting too see who rises first, him or Zook at Illinois who had another very good recruiting year.

Well I can't exactly say that, too many family members both attended or worked there and at East Lansing. For years Michigans scoreboard was part of the family, having been built and installed by my fathers Uncle. It was there for around 30 years. John told me about it while on his death bed. He built it in Chelsea and hauled it there and installed it. Everything was hand made by him. Apparently he did it right for it to withstand the elements as long as it did.

Needless to say we had some heated family battles over football games when one of the Michigan teams and Minnesota played :D

IU's hopes really depend on the coaches health too. He missed the spring scrimmage but watched it on TV, and says he'll be ready for opening day of practice. They have a good group of recruits, some from our area, but what will be most intreging to me is how the Warren Central kids do, a couple may wind up as starters on the line....they are big and fast.

I'm kinda a youngen and not too big into sports, so most of those names don't really mean anything to me. They were all much before my time, when you left Duluth, I was -15 years old. Good to hear that you have stayed strong rooting for that long though, keep it up.
My dad went to UMD for a year or two though, he might have been up there some time then or shortly after.
