Yeah, I missed one or two numbers in there...it's been a long week. Today being the longest. It was pole day today and it got wild at the end of the day, but overall I had a great time and it it seemed most of the fans did too.

So can you ID everyone in the first photo? We'll see if your right :) and no cheating!

Hmmm, I think one driver recognized me :)

There is a shot of the car DRG was talking about and how the red changes to black - pretty cool! Also note the side pod as the desin goes from black to nothing.

And the pole winner.....that was pretty wild!

Good guess but you missed one....there is one that never drove a race car, but was involved in a pro sport.

John have you ever run across or met Rolla Voldsted (spelling) with the Indy old timers? he is quite the character.

I think so, but I think it was my first year there. The problem with the Indy 500 though is there are litterally a 1000 characters, then add in a all actors and performers who show up, then athletes and well, it just turns into one big party, every day.

OT, you and I probably would have gotten Bille Jean King right because were old enough to have seen her play  She did change the women in sports attitude which is why they had her there.....I just wonder why Janet Guthrie wasn't there, or Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney either....both Lyn and Janet had a lot to do with Sarah's rise in the sport.

Good photographs.

Those side pod shots are a good illustration of what that paint/coating does. At speed and the right angle and light some of these cars are really going to 'flash' by this year!

Shirley Muldowney hasn't been well for several years. Combination of injuries piling up and some degenerative disorder I have heard.

Janet Guthrie had some sort of falling out with IRL . . . ??

Your right about all three of these ladies. They each did a lot to pave the way for those that came behind them. And all three are great stories themselves. Your also right about me and Billie Jean I was big tennis fan and player back in her era and remember the big match with her and the Sugar Daddy (Bobby Riggs) himself. Cha Cha was pretty much a folk hero in that era as well.
