Well day 2 has come and gone. I ended up having to leave early as the paper needed a track meet shot so I missed "Happy Hour". I shot in turn 1 for a while, then wandered through Gasoline Ally....
1: My friend Andy in his soon to be wifes car
2: Sarah, Andy's soon to be wife just before she heads back out on the track for practice.
3: Milka Dunno and Al Unser Sr
4: Fuel tanks ready for practice and race day.
5: One of the cars in the garage area

Yeah, it is good to see Sarah back, of course I am biased since her boyfriend is a friend of mine. If I don't shoot anything tomorrow night we may may go out for a couple cold ones after "Happy Hour". There are definately perks to this job :D
In this shot Sarah was sitting on the cart waiting to go out to pit road.

We had her out here in Wa. when she was running the west car. I was also involved when she ran the nascar toyota shootout in 05 in irwindale.

Great job on Day 2 John. I'm really pumped to see the whole series leading up to the big day. Keep feeding our hunger for great insider pics. I meet Al Unser Sr. a few years ago on a beach in Acapulco Mexico. Seemed like an OK type guy. Come to find out we were both there as guest of Gabriel Shocks. At a reception that night I ran into him again and he struck up a conversation because I was the only one he recognized at the time. He was telling me he had a son Al Jr. that was racing go-carts and that he might be the best of the Unsers yet. Kind of gives you an idea how long ago that meeting was doesn't it.

Yeah that was a couple days ago there OT, although I think Jr. does still drive a kart occasionally.

Here are a couple from turn 1 yesterday. Nothing from today as storms moved in. These are from turn 1.

A lot of these are showing that 'trick' paint effect. I like it and it seems to be coming through well in 'normal' lighting conditions.

I think that Meijer/Argent car is sharp!

The paint jobs this year are some of the best I have seen at the 500. The best though in my opinion is the yellow 360, the photo here doesn't do it justice, it is the best yellow paint job I have seen on a race car, bright and unmistakeable, a totally different yellow than the old Pennzoil cars had which appeared dull even to the eye, this car just plain stands out and should make a really neat bunch of photos on race day with the crowd in the stands.
