Will the D40 handle some light rain and such? My wifes Rebel XTi supposedly does pretty well in misting and light rain, but I'm just curious about my rig. Thanks!

Thanks! deckcadet 04-30-2007, 12:00 PM As with all non-weather sealed electronics (including the Rebel XTi) you should avoid getting it wet. I will say this though...the D40 is very well built, and I think it improves even upon the D70's sturdy compact build. I took my D70 out in a hurricane (do this at your own risk). It survived without a drop of water making it inside. so some light rain/misting should be no problem...the weak point will probably be your lens. the 18-70mm has a rubber gasket around the mount, and at 18mm with a filter and hood on you would have no problem... lenses like the 18-135, 18-55/II I'm not so sure about. My hurricane stunt was done with the weather sealed 17-35mm f/2.8D AFS Hickeroar 04-30-2007, 10:23 PM I guess it's not worth the risk when trashbag + hole = almost free weatherguard. :-P |
