No, not the kind that goes in your camera, but the kind you watch on TV. The wife signed us up for Netflix a month or two ago. I chose a couple of photography documentaries and I was very happy with them, and enjoyed them a lot.

The first one was - American Photography: A Century of Images. I thought it was a great histroy lesson on the last 100 years of photography in America.

The second was - National Geographic: The Photographers. I just watched this one last night, and I found it very interesting.

I would recoment both of these to anyone interested in photography. My only complaint is that I had to send the movies back. I would love to have a copy of both of these to watch whenever I wanted.

Anyone else have any photography movies they would recomend?

A&E (?) ran a special on Annie Liebowitz (sp) a few months back that might be available on DVD. I caught part of it, and really anjoyed what I saw.

I've seen War Photographer - very sobering and powerful documentary.

This probably won't help much, but about six months ago Brooks Jensen from Lens Work Magazine had an audio blog (available as a podcast series) where he highly recommended a classic old movie just because of the quality of lighting in it. I remember it was available from Netflix because I was thinking about (still thinking...) signing up. He was so amazed by it that I meant to look for it - but that's as far as I got...

Steve, now that you mention it, I do remember Brooks talking about that film, although I don't remember the name. I'm a regular listener to his pod casts. In fact, just last week, for some reason, my iTunes at work, redown loaded ALL of his podcasts, going back to 2004. So now I have a few hundred of his audio clips to listen to.

While it does showcase his music videos, he does discuss his photography. I'm not sure if the Netflix thing would come with the accompanying book, which is interesting.
