This is 35mm B/W of my mom reading the paper a few nights back.

thoughts, comments?
I'm afraid it's a little boring, but i'd like to hear some ideas.

Well done for finding an interesting angle to shoot this from - the table leads into your mother nicely. I would be inclined to crop just a little off the table though - it is rather light and the eye tends to stick there rather than go up to your mother. Also, maybe a little off the right? I am sure your mother likes this too.
Cheers
Mike
Has some good and bad pts.
I think you captured a very wholesome, straightforward scene here. Her outfit, glasses, and hair all work well within the context, and the background is perfect. I like how the background on the right is darker.
The table's way too blown out and I think the shot might have benefited from a vertical format instead of horizontal -- whatta think? It's strange though cause the exposure of her is pretty much right on.
It's too bad that the table didn't cooperate. If it were dark wood perhaps it would have been perfect. -GB

I agree with PP. What makes the shot for me though, is the second pair of glasses in the front!

I don't really think that the table is blown out. it's a white, tile table, and it's normally that bright. the only blow out part (i think) is the window and the reflection.
and the virt was a good idea, i tried it out, and i think it really worked

it takes away the problem of the window.
she's now off centered and the frame is balanced by the picture matt hanging on the wall.

that was one of my favorite parts. it makes you wonder how they got there and who's they are,
