Stitched two images together here (actually had three, but the program said that the third didn't overlap (......!?) ). You can see where the sky turns a little darker at the merge area - any comments on how too fix? The image is of Convict Lake in California.

Hey GB -

This looks like pretty good composite work so far. You might try to lasso and feather the offending section of sky to adjust the saturation and then fix the edges where it will appear rougher. Most of the panos I've played with turn into a lot of work on the clean up side, especially the more images you use to make them. As far as your program saying there was no overlap ~ well sometimes (I use PSE2 for pano stitching) if the scenes from frame to frame don't align exactly or there's too much overlap the program can have a problem figuring out where to put it. That's when I adjust the non fit image by hand within the scene, just drag it in and fiddle with it till it works.

What a beautiful place for landscape work. At least it was fun to make, huh?

your attempt to make it look presentable at such a small size makes it look over sharpened and over processed to me.. the different sky shades should be fairly easy to put right.. as to what it would look like seen at a more sensible size i can only guess..

it looks like it might have potential.. but judging a panaramic at that size requires some imagination..

ECH - Thks, and no you don't need an eye doctor. If you did the stitching them you'd really be on the lookout for the merge area. I just need to do some work to get rid of that little inperfection.

Cindy - Totally agree, cleaning up images can be a LOT of work :( Remember how some photography folks gravitated towards darkroom work, where others towards shooting? I am a shooter. PPing is OK but I prefer to leave it to someone who really loves it. :) I guess PANOS can be fun to put together, like a puzzle is........, but so far, they're not. Phooey, I know. Maybe the winters are too short here in California.

I need to stick with one program that works. I have PS CS2 and even that chokes sometimes. I prob don't know how to use it very good.

Trog - I did sharpen it and perhaps too much. The site limits one to posting images of 640 px or less. I have tried linking to images I've posted, but sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't :arf:

Word up GB! Me too, I'd much rather be out making than soaking a print in the bath. PP is the necessary evil even in the computer age. Photography is an art, traditional darkroom photo printing is an art ~ now digital post processing is an art too. I burst out in hallelujah the day I converted to digital; it offers so much more control over my images ~ especially in color! No more bad lab days! Ha! Free of the darkroom forever. Chemical fumes make me nauseous and red lights give me such a splitting headache ~ although I always enjoyed the sound of running water in a sink.

a suggestion GB.. perhaps two full height but not width crops to show the imge quality and detail a little better and one small one llike u have to give the idea what what its looks like all together..

i tend not to do panos cos i cant look at them properly.. i often wonder how other people do it.. he he

Try Smoky City designs Panorama Factory. I had very good luck with program, been using it since version 2.x and it's up to version 4.4. I have only gotten artifacts if there was a exposure mismatch. The only other problem is: it's a PC program only.

Note to make good artifact free panoramas you do need 20-50% overlap.
