View Full Version : roses are red lalotafoya 02-14-2007, 09:27 PM photo of some red roses, Frog 02-15-2007, 08:33 AM Sorry, Lalo, but they're out of foucs unless its the soft focus you wanted. trog100 02-15-2007, 10:07 AM they look very nice to me.. the colours make the image.. but with such a small example its hard to see much.. trog lalotafoya 02-15-2007, 06:45 PM I agree frog, its alot out of focus, real short depth of field, But i posted it because of the colors, and trog, thanks, I have uploaded a bigger picture.. trog100 02-15-2007, 08:35 PM i like it.. not having everything in focus is normal with close ups.. the front of the image is in focus the fade out to the rear is no problem.. very nice image with superb colours.. trog MarcusK 02-16-2007, 12:30 AM Love the colors and the DOF, but i think better lighting (which hopefully will be explained by someone else :D) would have brought out better detail from the petals (they seem to merge) but really nice shot....inspired by the time of month?? :D Marc Greg McCary 02-16-2007, 03:05 AM I agree with Trog and Marc, I feel the focus is fine, I like it. The overall composition works for me as well. Nice picture.. Greg lalotafoya 02-16-2007, 07:20 AM Thank you everyone for looking and for your comments., About the lighting, I just bounced the flash of the ceiling. with some window light right befor sunset. I wanted more detail, but i don't have the right lens, or camera maybe. I'm not sure what to do, my camera seem to take good pictures of other flowers but not of red roses, or anything red, I wonder why that is? I'm using an Olympus E-500 FL-50 flash and a 14-45 f3.5 Olympus digital lens. trog100 02-16-2007, 07:37 AM your camera blows the reds.. similar to blown white highlights but its a colour thing.. over saturated reds is a common problem.. it in essence blows or burns out the detail in bright red objects.. its all to do with how your camera processes its images.. turning the colour saturation down will help.. but the other colours will then not look so bright.. in your rose shot it hasnt harmed the overall result but its something to be aware of.. trog ps.. the rose shot.. perfect in everyones eyes or not is exceptionally good.. be proud of it.. |
