Shot our local middle school track city finals this last Saturday and ended up with some real nice shots. It was an overcast day throughout the event which made it nice for my shots. No harsh lighting. Anyways here are a few of the shots.

I really like the effort these two girls gave as they neared the finish line. These two were close to the end.

Yes, she is wearing slip-on vans. Don't know if it's a money thing for some of these kids but I've seen quite a few with shoes like this during track meets.

I loved the look of focus and determination this girl had during her long jump

Good job Jim. Good angles on these. Can't see anything I'd change except cropping, especially #3 and the person in the red. Unless that person is integral to the story, such as a parent/coach and your doing an article on them, I'd eliminate them.

These are all great shots in my book. I really like the high jump pic.

I'm glad you commented about the Vans. I was wondering!

very nice indeed. great angle on that high jump. One thing to try is to get lower on the long jump shot, but I know a lot of leagues don't allow it. So I guess you have to work with what you're given. but if you can get that low shot with the leading lines of the pit at a wide angle, it makes a great composition.

Thanks Brent for the advise. Boy track will start around Jan / Feb and I'll give the low angle a try then.
