Good Afternoon All,
I just recently bought the new Sony A100, I love it first off. Second I have a love for sports and outdoors, and i need to know what Camera Backpacks anyone would recommend. I need it to work for me around the ballfield, and also because i hunt i would want something that can work for taking my camera with me into the deep stuff with my Atv, and it can get pretty bumpy. Anyone have any suggestions, im very interested in hearing what everyone has to say. So far i love this site.

I've had good luck with Lowepro cases. Canvas exterior makes them rugged enough for outdoor use, and a soft padded interior protects the gear. They make a variety of sizes and styles. Also you may want to look into the Penguin cases. They are hard cases packed with foam and are watertight and may offer you better protection from dust and dirt than a regular backpack. I have a few packs from Tamrac and Lowepro and they are excellent. From Lowepro look into their DryZone packs which are also waterproof.

Welcome to the Forum. I just purchased a new camera bag last week, so I know what you're going through. So many different bags to choose from...

I think the hardshell cases that Canuck mentioned are actually Pelican cases. Right case, wrong bird. :) They are very nice cases from what I have read and seen, but I have never used them. I'm a Lowepro fan myself, and they do have a nice selection of bags. I would also suggest checking out Tamrac's line of backpacks. Another very good brand, with a large choice of sizes.

Think Tank has also just come out with a cool looking backpack that you may be interested in. The bottom half of the pack rotates around on a belt, so you can get to your gear without taking the whole thing off. Be sure to check out the sling style bags by Lowepro and Tamrac as well. They ride on your back like a back pack, but only have a single strap that goes around your body. That way you can swing the bag around to get your gear out, without taking the whole thing off.

When I hike I use a Tamrac backpack case... it is nice for the budget minded, padded decently and comfortable... I was even climbing up some rock cliffs with it to get some waterfall pictures with my tripod strapped underneath it. But I would think for ATV riding I would feel better strapping down a hardcase with your camera equipment. Pelican cases are top notch and water resistant.
