Hi Experts..

Just wondering if I can use a regular digital camera to shoot basketball?? Do you have any suggestions of what a beginner could use to get reasonable pictures?? If I bought an SLR what 2 lenses should I get for Basketball??? Can autofocus be used or should it always be manual?? Where can I go to get a quick photography lesson??

Thank you so much for your hel..

First tip: Use the "Search This Forum" menu when you're at the index of sports forum. It's on the right hand side of the screen
Type in basketball and press GO...
Lots of useful advice in those old threads :)

Probably not successfully indoors.
There isn't much light, so you need high ISO speed 800 or 1600, and a wide (f2.8) lens, or flash if it's allowed. Not things you find on most non-SLR digital cameras.
Noise in the picture is the biggest problem with a non-SLR, even at ISO 800. Most non-SLR don't go as high as 1600 or 3200 ISO
Some dark gyms require f1.8 !

Canon Digital Rebel XTi, 10D, 20D, (in increasing price I think). OR 400D (the new one).
Spend your money on a great lens, and use the XTi body I suggest.

70-200 f2.8
50mm f1.8

Right here !
Just ask your questions, and read the old basketball threads.
