Here in Georgia we had upper 70's today. I had to turn the AC on. I like this shot a lot, but what is that pole on the left? I can't make out what it is... Greg Ronnoco 12-01-2006, 06:34 AM Why is the colour balance off, toward the magenta and why do there seem to be "dirt spots" on the sky? Ronnoco MB1 12-01-2006, 07:06 AM My problem with shooting snow falling is the falling flakes end up looking like grey blotches in the sky part of the image. You have it too in this image. I don't care much for them and can't figure out how to get rid of them-oh well, I guess that is what photoshop is for. I'm guessing the magenta cast is because you shot it in twilight and the street lights are starting to come on. gahspidy 12-01-2006, 07:26 AM Don, this as well as one of the others on your last winter post are shot through a window, it appears. I like the idea of seeing the frost on the glass and it seems to make the image somewhat abstract and painterly in a way. I like effect of the snow/frost on the glass, whether it is on your lens or a window you are looking through. The spots at the upper portion of the frame are distracting somewhat and you could clean that up with your editing software. Also, as noted , the color cast should be corrected and you might find auto-color to be the easiest approach. Keep at these shots through the glass (if thats what they are) as there is much potential with them GB1 12-01-2006, 08:20 AM Great except for the rain/sheet on the windshield. I really like the muted effect here though. GB Don Schaeffer 12-02-2006, 12:30 PM It was taken through the window of a taxi cab while the snow was coming down. Don Schaeffer 12-02-2006, 09:12 PM I don't think the color balance is far off. That's kinda the way it looked. Don't forget the window was tinted. |
