View Full Version : Black Friday...
zrfraser 11-20-2006, 07:44 PM So who is looking forward to Black Friday? What kind of deals are you guys looking for, and which stores will you be hitting? Who will be working on Black Friday? I have worked in retail for the past 6 years or so, and I am more excited about this one than any other one.

Greg McCary 11-21-2006, 02:50 AM I have never shopped on Black Friday. I had rather pay extra than get up early and fight a crowd. I have heard horror stories about how people will stand in line for hours and then for one reason or another they wouldn't get what they were after on the first place. Have you heard of any camera bargins on the Evolt or Canon????
Greg
mjs1973 11-21-2006, 03:57 AM I'll be working on Black Friday. We have most of our shopping done already, and I hate dealing with the crowds. The rest of my shopping will most likely take place online.
I do need to go to the camera shop to check find a new bag, but that's about all I have to go shopping for. Once I find the one I want, I will buy that online as well.
zrfraser 11-21-2006, 04:40 AM Greg,
Canon point and shoots will pretty much all be on sale with $75 rebates. I don't know about the EVOLT since we don't sell them in our store. The sale will be going on through Saturday, so if you want to look you won't have to fight in a line.

adina 11-21-2006, 07:31 AM I love shopping that Friday! Christmas eve as well! Since we've had kids, I've tried to get it done by the second week in December, but I'm not sure about this year...
Also, I will be working this Friday morning. Due to massive amounts of vomit at my house, I've had to reschedule things. :)
SmartWombat 11-21-2006, 12:29 PM What's Black Friday ?

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. The biggest shopping day of the year, here in the States. The term "black" is used because on this day, with the huge amount of sales, companies are able to get out of the "red" (debt) and into the "black (profit).

Yeah, I felt a bit queasy after eating at the ESPN Zone, too. That clams casino tasted a little funky... :D

I love Black Friday. I have the day off work and no plans. I'll get a bunch of shopping done but it'll be online... :)
My band is playing tonight (Wednesday) and the bar owner calls this night "Black Wednesday" being the biggest party night of the year. Could be an interesting night.
SmartWombat 11-22-2006, 01:49 PM Ah, since we don't celebrate Turkey Day over here, the day after Thanksgiving isn't a date marked on my calendar ... like you wouldn't celebrate November 5th.
Thanks for the explanation.
Greg McCary 11-22-2006, 03:30 PM I hate the crowds. I went to Wal-Mart tonight just to get a few things and the crowd was awful. I think I will do most of my shopping online. Oh yeah, thanks Al Gore for inventing the internet...
Greg
I don't do black friday......crowds are ok if they aren't pushy and rude but I've never seen that happen on black friday.

Maybe you didn't get enough fries ...... :p
jorgemonkey 11-23-2006, 08:19 AM The only time I like crowds is when I'm smack in the middle of a concert :cornut: :9:
I've never shopped on Black Friday, but some of my friends did last year. They got up at 4:30am, got to the store by 5am, and there was already a huge crowd for the 6am opening. They planned on spending all day shopping, but they spent most of the day either finding a parking spot or standing in line to get into a store.
Yes, thank you Al Gore for the internet!
