What an a$$ . I can't believe that ANY father would do something like that to his son...his son's team....his son's friends.....and AFTER they make it to the finals too. His son probably was a major contributor to the win that sent them to the finals form what the article said and the father still behaves like....well.... a 4 year old.
Sombody get me the rope =P

Ahh, the golden rule...
He who has the gold, makes the rules...
ALL of the parents who have kids in that leage, should pull them out and refuse to let them participate, until that jack a$$ resign.

And the thought that strikes me is...what's going to happen if the kid goes out for football in HS......provided his joy of playing sports hasn't been ruined by the father's attitude.

That is pretty sad, but it isn't the worst one of the year. One of the worst landed one kid on the sidelines after he was intentionally injured by another player. The player, on orders of his coach ran full speed from 10-15 yards into a player on the line before the ball was snapped. The kid who got hit suffered a shoulder injury and concussion. He was forced to sit out the rest of the season. The coach who taught the play was fired, and may face criminal charges as they had actually practiced the play all week just to take this one kid out of the game.
Each year there is more and more of this stuff, and in the end it's the kids who suffer

It's Fairfax county! ... coming from that area and having played varsity soccer thru high school....
Fairfax county/schools leagues were RUTHLESS---the parents ---evil...
not to say that is the case for everyone but it is a very competitive area in sports...and it really boiled down to a kill or be killed situation... made for a very exhilarating game with oodles of injuries....
it's rerally scary and makes you wonder what that kids life is like at home.... and what type of father and man he will grow up to be...hopefully he'll prevail over all that.

JS, I guess your story wins:eek: . It's a sad commentary on the mentality of some people. I sometimes wonder if it's a 'Sports Center' kind of thing, where the most bone-jarring hits are glamorized. These people have to consider what kind of message they send to the world.

I think a lot of it has to do with the lack of respect and lowering of morals in this country. It's also partly due to the "my kids the best and we'll do anything to win" attitude.
What these people are teaching these kids is unreal. A year or two at a football game (high school), on the first play from scrimmage the opposing team piled on a runningback and someone under the pile grabbed the runningbacks ankle and twisted it. Everyone heard the scream, well after the whistle. Coaches and others argued for a penalty, but the officials ignored it. The kid missed most of the season because of this. Another player came out of a pile, walks up to an official and shows him an obvious bite on his arm. again the officials ignored it. This team doing all this stuff finished the season 1-8. I shot two of their games and they did the same stuff in both. Those coaches should have been fired.
This same school had another incident last year that taught kids well. In this one, some less tallented rich kids were not starters on the basketball team. Well how do you get your kid to start when the coach won't start them? You fire the coach of course, even if it means making things up. Boom, big article front page of the paper about the coach swearing at kids and calling them names in practices and games.
Now I have known this coach for several years and he's the nicest guy you could have for a coach, he knows how to motivate without name calling and four letter words. This guy loved that school, the kids and wouldn't do anything that he was accused of. He drove 40 miles a day for all the the years he worked there, and worked many 14+ hour days as a teacher, coach and assistant AD for very little money, then gets shafted by inconsiderate paprents and players who think they are the best on the court. The kicker though, the year before they made it to semi-state in the playoffs, last year they got booted in the first round...yeah, those kids were starters :)
