Ouch!!! You cut me deep John! My weak point :(
I haven't got a clue what I am doing where landscapes are concerned, but hey, I'll have a go

I'm not even sure if 4 of them can be regarded as landscapes lol. See, that's how much I know!

Allison, number 2 in your set rocks!

Here are some from last weekend. All shot on a Panasonic Lumix FZ7, 6MP, all that was done was a resize in PS (no colour or level balancing done, straight from the camera).

1. Sunset over Newmarket shot from the Bus along the 404
2. Lone Island on Lake Nippissing shot from the boat while making sure the PYPSers weren't breaking any rules.
3. Cut Your Own Lumber Home Depot, Hwy 11 south near Gravenhurst
4. Rocks and Trees - Hwy 11 South just outside of North Bay

here is my entry, not sure if i posted this here or not. taken this summer at mesa arch (i can't get out much for shooting nowadays with grad school) at sunset.

i hope its not to big, but i put the height at 640 pixels and its a pano.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c366/Doobs8i/Moab%20trip/mesaarch3panoedited-1.jpg

humm actually seems to small, can't even see the detail in the background, stupid photobucket made it smaller than i want.

I took this one day early for the Oct. project, but I didn't get around to finishing the post processing until the 3rd. Does that still count? :p

I love that first one. Look like you are in full color there. We are still a week or so away.

Not quite full colors yet. There is still a lot of green out there in trees. I figure it will be full color by next weekend as well, and I should be in Door County for that.

As for this shot, I used a little backlighting, and the reddish light from the sunset really helped to bring the colors out.

Well I'm still not sure whether I am doing things right, but I am having a go.
Took a walk through a little bit of countryside today.
I'm not even sure whether #3 and #4 can be regarded as landscapes to be honest, but the web looked nice glistening in the late afternoon sun. I know, would have been nicer had there been a spider sitting there but I wasn't prepared to look for one and put it there lol.
These were all taken late afternoon around 4:30-5:00pm.

I know this is not the place for CC but if anyone can say how well I am doing I would really appreciate it. I mean, I don't wanna keep getting things wrong. TIA

Call me a cheat if you like LOL.
I seem to be doing that alot lately.
I had a play on PS today. My little girl climbed up on my desk again!!!
Except this time she had a pair of sunglasses.
I had scribbled, with colouring pencils, a picture of a beach with palm trees about 4 years ago. And thought it would make a great backdrop.
I lens blurred the beach and even put a lens flare on the sun lol.
So here it is, a landscape with a portrait of my daughter ... hehe.

Alison,

That is a very cute photo. Gets my vote for PotM.

Greg,

Don't worry. We don't bite around here. Well, at least I don't, and I have had all my shots. LOL

Your first shot is very interesting, but watch the highlights. You lose a little detail in some of the rocks, or at least it appears that way on my machine. I really like the second shot, but I wish there were much sharper. The third and fourth shots are also neat.

I've got a bunch of older landscapes lying around. Is there an understanding that we are showing our recent work here, or should I post a few such as these? It shouldn't be too hard to guess where some of them were taken.

Pulled these from my files (some are many years old) - hope you don't mind.

These are from my "human intervention" series. And that is not digital noise - that's film grain  :p

BTW, in the last shot, there is a crazy nut of a rock climber in it - perhaps tough to see at this resolution.

This must be some local tradition that we were not aware of. Does it account for the scarcity of boats in the Pass?
