Just got a rebel xt and have been playing. Playing with shutter speed with a fan at work.

Welcome to the forum Jimmy B!

This is very nice, the silhouettes make up a great composition, almost something my Drawing instructor would setup for a negative shape charcoal drawing. This is a really nice first photo, still life even! At first glance one might not think much of it, but it really is nice and keeps my eyes attached to it for a long time.

Well done. I hope to see more like this one.

edit: I even put it up on my screen and stepped back as I do my drawings to better look at the composition...I love it.

Jimmy,

This is really good - I really like the setup with the fan and the chap behind it in colour just adds that little extra. However, it might be the way I see things but is he relieving himself??

The one change I would make is to remove the blue pole whihc would then make it even better for me.

Good shooting hope you ply us with many more

Roger

At first I saw no redeeming value but when I looked again I noticed how my eyes were pulled immediatly to fan center and then out. At first the lines seemed to jumbled and leading in no direction but as I noticed that, I did look more and then more, and realized that the photo has quite good composition.

He may be just walking by but if you look at the position of his hands and what seems to juttling out - then it makes him a BIG BOY

Roger

PS Definately not being serious just a disgusting mind:thumbsup:

To all that have replied at this point Thank you.
The blue pole is actually a shadow from a support beam on the building in the back round.
The guy just happened to be walking by so I waited until he got to that spot to shoot. The shot was taken in a Machine shop, in the forground on the left is a press, square deal is the forklift
wich is behind the fan. Bead blaster on the right. My idea for the shot was to not see the fan blades.
F-15 where in de are you? I grew up back there.
