So I waited for my new 30D to come and it arrived on Tuesday of this week. I then had to wait until today (Friday, due to my job) to buy a CF card for it, so I bought a 1GB Lexar Professional 133x Speed card and tried to format it. I kept getting an Err 99 on the screen, I tried turning off the camera, I tried taking the battery out and putting it back in and still got the Err 99. After all that, I typed 'Canon 30D Err 99' into Google and found this site http://www.shawnolson.net/a/1276/ along with a few others related to the Err 99.
It pi&&es me off beyond belief that Lexar knows about this problem with their cards and there is not a single mention of it on their product box!!!

You're being rather unfair to Lexar I feel.
Though their return policy seems different to last year when I emailed them for an RMA number. They needed no proof of purchase, just issued a RMA immediately.
I have only one out of my 5 lexar cards with this problem, an 80x.
Lexar and Canon annouced the issue it when it was first discovered - May 2005.
Back then it affected the 80x cards.

I'm quite happy, they found the problem, told the world about it, and will replace the cards.
I would prefer it not to have happened, but it worked perfectly in my 20D and I only found issues with my 1D bodies.

i'd have to agree with SW, it feels like you're being unfair about it. With the mass production of these cards, it's hard to get them all right. While there may be a single problem with it, there's obviously a reason why they can't fix it that simply. and just because of one problem, I wouldn't say "dont buy lexar!" I personally don't use lexar because I find sandisk to be cheaper, but I know a lot of people who use them and are impressed by them.

When someone knows of a common problem with product and makes no mention of it on their packaging, I cannot be unfair enough! I wonder how many people have sent their camera's to Canon to get the problem fixed or didn't bother returning the card to Lexar.
I bought a SanDisk today and there isn't a CF Err anymore :D
