Here's a 100% crop of some red-ears from the park, 432mm equivelent, handheld. some PP, but only the standard stuff for this camera (add 7 or 8 points of contrast, minus 4 or 5 points brightness, very slight NR if needed, USM.) It's no tripod mounted prime 2.8 with a $5000 price tag, but it takes pretty nice pictures none the less.

probably between 30 and 40 feet. perhaps more. You can see the mulberry leaves, about four inches long or so, for scale. I was up on top of the bank, which is fairly tall, and didn't feel like falling down the hill.

I'd say your H5 has nice detail :)

Hey, you get good results. Doesn't matter how much the camera costs.

thats incredable you were able to shoot UP from that distance away.

nice pic, just alittle blown out on the shells, but thats perfectable acceptable considering the circumstances.

It is always a credibility hurdle with a digicam rather than a DSLR...although I will argue that DSLR lenses are generally better at what they are designed to do, digicam lenses are certainly underrated as multi-purpose photography tools (rather than snapshot tools). Here is the full frame image from the crop above, same PP. I like the full frame better, but included the 100% crop to illustrate the capabilities of the camera.

I'm not sure my best lens would have made a difference, but completely understand your point. People automatically think that I'm a pro when they see the big lenses and bags.
