Lava Lamp

I shot this with a Nikon N80 and Tamron 90mm macro using Kodak Gold 200. It is cropped. Please tell me what you think and how you would improve it.

i could spend all day taking pics of butterflies... just beautiful

and i really like this one, very nicely cropped and the frame works well with it
nice blur on the bg keeping similar colors

the only thing i would like to see is maybe more of face and legs, which looks like you did the best you could at the time

and maybe the back wing in a bit better focus?

Well done Lava Lamp, I really liked it from the first second I saw it and that's all for me what counts. There is always room for improvement, but then again, every photograph can be improved, even if it's just something minor.

Thanks for sharing this great shot with us! :)

Great color. I really like closeups like this one. At first glance, I thought we were getting a true profile and seeing only one wing, but upon closer examination, I see that there is a back wing and a front wing. Maybe adjust the DOF to get both wings in focus.

Great shot.

I agree with Soren.Colours are lovely and pose excellent.Only back wing being slightly unsharp, stops it from being perfect.

Dito on what been said---well composed rich colors but either blur and change the angle of the back wing or bring it more into focus...

without that minor thing a beautiful shot...

Beautifully framed. Great looking image, I agree with other comments about backwing and possible slightly different angle. But really a nice image as it is.

What an excellent shot you've composed. The only thing I'd say that isn't quite perfect is the focus plane. I can't tell if it's just my eyes (because we're talking a small detail here) but it looks like parts of the butterfly / the flowers next to it are a *tiny* bit soft. Nothing a little judicious USM couldn't fix, but I thought I'd mention it.

Either way, post-card city! Heck, poster-city if you have GenuineFractals and/or a high MP camera. Great job.
