I am new to this website, and to these forums. I thought that I could get some good feedback from some snaps I did while in Japan during February.
Thanks for you comments,

View Full Version : Japan 2004 Rolfe 05-14-2004, 12:43 PM I am new to this website, and to these forums. I thought that I could get some good feedback from some snaps I did while in Japan during February. Thanks for you comments, Rolfe :) Sebastien B 05-14-2004, 01:19 PM Hello and welcome on this forum! I really like the 1st 3th and 4th pix, the 3rd one is awesome! The 2nd one (monkeys?) is ok but seems a bit too flat to me, maybe you could increase contrast a little bit? See you Seb Rolfe 05-14-2004, 02:46 PM It is hard to judge prints on monitors, but the Monkey print is nearly white, with the monkies being a medium gray, with some black in the deepest shadow. I tried it with more contrast, but the animals looked too muddy, not luminous at all. Thanks for the feedback, Rolfe Yoyo Szeto 05-15-2004, 02:49 AM Hi, They are all very good photos and well thought. I especially like the monkey shot because the moneys are adorable. Looking forward to your photos. yoyo Yoyo Szeto 05-15-2004, 02:51 AM P.S. I have a zen feeling when viewing Photos 1 and 4. All th best. yoyo kamboura 05-15-2004, 08:33 AM Hello All, First, I want to mention that this is my first post too, I finally broke down and registered after coming in to this forum almost daily (yes, I got lots of time on my hands) for a few months. I shoot Film and I don't have a scanner so, I will not be posting any pics soon. However, I thought I will share my newbie views as a thanks to all of you. Now to the photos... Rolfe... I really like them... these are the kind of pictures I would like to be able to shoot. How long was the exposure on the first one? I also really like the monkeys, and their placement within the photo. A Zen garden of monkeys !! ACArmstrong 05-15-2004, 08:43 AM Wow, number one just jumps out at me. It would make a seriously nice poster. 3 and 4 are nice as well, but there's something about number two that I just don't like. I think it's that there's so much white that it appears that the monkeys are just scattered randomly on the page. Maybe if we could see some more shadows in the snow it would be better. BTW, welcome to the forum. Great start and I hope you post more soon. bobbythebandit 05-15-2004, 11:25 AM Excellent first post and i hope you can keep up this standard.First is great and i like the monkey one, too. Thanks for sharing. natatbeach 05-15-2004, 04:52 PM Except that it's been a while since something impacted me as strongly as your first and last images...Not even in my most vivid and wild imagination could I ever conjure up such lovely images as these... They are both striking, breathtaking and peaceful ---allll at once.:) Please post some more PuckJunkey 05-15-2004, 05:08 PM The three landscape / ethereal type shots are beautiful; you have some serious artistic vision IMO. So with that, I say welcome to the forum and please keep posting so we can all learn from that vision. Great shots... truly. Even the monkeys are nice, but I suspect your gift is seeing landscapes (and applying a little judicious post-production as well?). God bless Photoshop. ;) Young Shooter 05-16-2004, 06:30 AM hehehe from everyones tone, yur making everyone jelouse wit these pictures eheehe, they are awsome, i wish i knew how to do fstops and shutter speed and all that so well that i will trust myself going to japan and doin it and know they will most likely work out but these pictures are cool , nj , keepshooting |
