Congrats! The 70-200 range is my favorite, and I've seen awesome stuff from that lens. 400 is proving a bit weird for me, but you'll love the reach. Let's see what you can do with those monsters.

Cool news, Terryger! That's a lot of toys, er tools, all at once :p Can't wait to see how you'll like these two guns. That 100-400mm seems to be a popular choice here (for good reason). You've got one lens for low light conditions and one for long reach - seems like an unbeatable combination.

I'll watch for your website.

Now if only we can convince Payn to switch to Canon :p

here are some early results of the 100-400. like you said, it takes some getting used to payn but i see some killer potential.

the first good 2.8 shot and you are right loupy. it was an hour before dark last light and this allen is hard to shoot in good light, let alone near darkness, as his head reflects light and screws up the focus.

clearest head shot i ever took on a male anna's and i've only just begun.

let's get ready to ruuuuummmmmbbbblllleee!:D :D :D :D

Now I see the close resemblance of your male allen with the female RT that I posted earlier.

How close were you in that shot? I assume you were at the full 400mm too?

i was only about 20 feet on the one where is sitting and about 30 feet on the one flying.

no i was not out at 400 as i found that to be hard to focus correctly so close. best range for that distance is 135-250mm.

that is the reason i like the 70-200. beside the 2.8 it is very easy to get great focus at 200. the 100-400 seems to get its best potential after 40 feet but i am still learning.

You did well! It is an awesome length, and alot of fun. Can't wait to see what wonders you'll come up with. I'm not familiar with that lens, but the 400 I have has a min focus of 12 feet. You may want to try using manual focus.

P.S. Ummm... NO, Loupey! you'll see why later... perhaps.

Having posted a few hummingbird shots myself I really appreciate these great shots. Very nice, so close and with such terrific detail. You will be very pleased with the new gear.
