Well I've finally gotten a chance to take my D2h out with me a on a few MTB rides- I LOVE THIS CAMERA!! The autofocus is very fast & accurate, and out of the three rides I've been on with it, I've only had maybe 8-10 OOF shots.

So far I've only used the combo of a Sigma 28-70 F2.8 lens, D2h, & SB-800 flash for al these shots, but I've been really happy with the combo, especially since most locations I've been shooting at are at the evening time in a forest. Here is a few of my favorites:

I just wish I hadn't of cut off the front of the wheel

Nice job. Knowing your sport is the most important thing in any sports photography next comes the equipment. The D2H is a great sports tool. I have had mine for about a year now and it has made a big difference in my sports images. I know your going to love it. Just try and stay away from those higher ISOs. I get lots of noise up there.

That noise at high ISO is the only thing that bugs me about this camera. Now I just gotta talk the wife into letting me keep my D1h for low light situations :D

Yeah if it hadn't been that cut off wheel it would have been good.
I feel though that the fill flash is overdoing it, far more than filling in.
How about dialling the flash down a stop?

I think I will dial the fill down next time. A couple riders and me are plannin out a trip where the main goal is to get photos, so I'll be carrying more than one flash with me, so it'll be fun to see how those images come out.

I'm jonesin bad! Francis got out there again; I guess the helicopter ride didn't scare him off?!

Good for him! It looks like you guys had a great time. Even though the flash appears a little strong, I kind of like the effect.

The flash makes everything look plastic, it may need more than a step down, otherwise not bad.

Ok Ok! I get the point about the flash being too bright :p :D

I'm gonna hopefully be out shooting again in the next week or so to work on the flash comp. It seems the D2h likes to use a little to much fill, while my D70 seems to like to use not enough fill. Ah, the joys of cameras- they have their own personalities

Hmmm, try under exposing one step and see what happens. Just a thought, you never know what may or may not work, one of the advantages to digital is you can play and if you don't like the results toss it.
Want a good laugh? Check out the bottom photo in my hust posted football pics....:D :D

I like the Wherewolf eyes in that one shot :)

THats the fun part about going out with my friends and riding/shooting. They don't give me much time to get set up, but I'm able to play with settings & not worry about missing the shot as if I was on assignment.
