Unlike F1, the racing is quite close.
The differences are in the setup, and random factors like how many nose cones you've used in practice :o
Unfortunately not all cars were identical, some suffered engine problems. Eliseo Salazar for one had very little practice running.
Though for some, the damp conditions caused a little trouble ...
Nigel Mansell in his home race had a broken differential and retired from the race after a few laps, came back for an installation lap about 15 minutes from the end, waved to the crowd and retired again.
