Not bad. I like the high contrast and how the mountains fade away in the distance. Actually, I find the lighting to be very interesting despite its harsh nature. However, the guys seems a little lost in space. They are too far away and too centered. I'd personally crop some of the bottom and some of the right side to bring your "fugitives" closer from the viewer.

Obviously, I wish that there wasn't flare but these things happens...

I share most of the same thoughts that you've mentioned.

For some reason this shot still appealed to me even though technically it has its fare share of issues. I even like the lens flare :) go figure.
