I love this picture because this Goldilocks is my youngest and she is being most mousy quiet. It only lasts a moment so you have to move fast. Please feel free to C&C.

this is a great photo. the dark background really brings the child out, and the lighting across her hair and face are excellent. a great job catchign that moment when she was still and quiet :-)

Hi CL,
I like the tranquility of the shot very much. Thanks for sharing.

I like the cropping and the dark back ground really compliments this photo. A beautiful picture of a beautiful girl. My only quip is that where the light hits the top of her head looks too hot and burned out. Maybe it's just my monitor.

I totally agree with Dylan. This could be one of your daughters favorite baby pics of herself when she gets older.

Now though I wouldn't change anything on this shot, the next time you photographing her try using a diffuser to give the photo a dreamy quality.

Excellent. A lovely pensive moment and you got it.

Thanks for the comments and kind words. This was not a planned image. I had been doing portraits of a friend for her corporate head shot. Then we took the kids out for a swim
and left all of the equipment set up. When we got back Harmony and I were fooling around in front of the backdrop. She likes to run the gamut of facial emotions and see if I can keep up, our little game. The light had changed significantly since my morning shoot so I had strong natural light coming through a window but since it was play time I didn't screen it.

You are right 2k2s, the highlights are blown in her hair. I shot this RAW and fiddled with it extensively to rid myself of the blow out but was then unhappy with the white temperature throughout the rest of the shot. I decided to leave them in and try to balance the hot spots with the rest of the levels but perhaps I need to return to my fiddling? Any suggestions for fixing this in RAW? Please let me know.

Devin are you referring to a diffuser for my lens or for the light source?

I think this is beautiful against the dark background. She looks quite angelic. :)

I'm sorry. I was talking about a lens diffuser. Just to give it some softness. Again you totaly don't have to do it on this shot, but if you were bored and wanted to try somthing different I think it would look good on this type of photo. Just a thought.

That's OK. :) I just wanted to be sure I understood your meaning. Thanks for your input Devin. I have a soft focus filter that I never use because it's not the right size for my primary lens although I'm sure similar effects could be achieved in PSE very quickly too.
Thanks for your comment.
