I have been monitoring an eagle nest with my friend this spring and here is one of the two eaglets that have fledged quite recently(within the last week)
Bad image , as it was very high up at 11:30 am yesterday and by law I need to stay 1200 feet from the nest/perched bird.

May not be up to your standards but to get a shot like this would please me very much. Nice job and you stayed within the law. What can I say I'm proud of you Paul.

I could have gotten closer because my friend is registered as an eagle nest monitor with the state endangered species (group)
I have never thought an image was worth endangering the wellfare of my subject, so I stayed back. In a few weeks I may get closer once it is stronger and can feed itself well.

Im with OT on this, just the to have the opportunity to see these in the wild would make my year! let alone photograph them. Soooo lucky.

Nice shot Paul, and you're fortunate to have the opportunity to get even that close.

I get way closer to wild eagles than that sometimes :D I had the male of this nest come down the river 30 feet from me and grab a trout right in front of me. My camera was around my neck and I had no chance to grab an image. Honestly bald eagles are great, but I see them quite frequently(though at a distance usually)
I am dying to get a good image of a golden eagle.... some day?
