My friend and I made our first trip out to the Salton Sea yesterday. We've been wanting to head out there for quite sometime and the only way that I can describe this place is that it's hell on earth. If you've ever been out there you know what I am talking about. We are actually planning another trip to head out there next weekend because we kind of ran out of time yesterday. Anyhoo, here is a little something. Enjoy. =)

Sounds like fun, I've always had an interest in that area after reading a nice write-up about it in National Geographic. Ever seen the movie starring Val Kilmer?

Very unique place that is for sure. And given the history of the area even more fascinating. I flew over it quite often but have never been on the ground. The sign is from a by-gone era though I suspect.

Yep, that's the phrase that fits. Hell on Earth alright.
Is this "Marina" on the east or west side. I've been out there several times and as bad as the east side is, the west is even worse. :(~
Funny angle you shot here. Any more photos of it?

and remember, the Salton Sea was supposed to be the next Palm Springs. Boy did something happen along the way..
