Photo-John's trip to Italy got me thinking....

How many pictures do we photo-freaks take while on vacation? Before I had my digital SLR I was a little more conservative... 12-16 rolls of film for a week in Alaska or Spain. But now that I have my digital, I go a tab bit wild.

My recent trip to Seatle I took over 1000 pictures in 5 days.

So, share the most pictures you've taken on vacation....and be sure to include how much time you were there.

Florida for 6 days.... 75+ rolls of film..that was awhile ago :D

Sedona AZ... 1500+ images on digital, 27 rolls of film(always 36ex)

I am a maniac on vacation! I get up at 4am and stop at dark...

2 weeks= 2400 photos. I tend to go a little crazy with digital also. Now I dread going through them all!

Well, that depends on who I'm vacationing with.

When it's me alone, I can definitely burn through some film. When it's a family trip, I am more considerate of everyone's patience and tolerance of me and my tripods. So I tend to carry a p&s digital alot and take less time shooting photos.

I find the more I shoot over the years, the less urgent I am about capturing every single shot.

...what Rick said - makes a big difference what kind of a vacation it is. With film, I think 32 rolls (36 exp) was my record but I'm not sure about digital. In some cases I shoot less with digital because I know that I have the shot without bracketing, or a wave is in the right spot rather than shooting a lot and hoping I have it, etc. With currently about 3 gigs of cards, I've had to delete some shots just to make room (not the best idea - but the only option at the time) and may have shot as many as 4G worth of jpegs on one trip.

I'm more likely now to shoot RAW and shoot more selectively - but I still need to add another gig or two to the card wallet.

This is something I've been wondering about also. I just got a digital camera about a month ago. This past weekend I spent the day (just one) with an old friend and his 10 month old daughter and I took 200 pictures. I'm planning a 12 day trip for the fall. I think I'm going to need another memory card...or 6.

Before digital, the most I've ever shot was about 8 rolls (36 exp) in 4 days.

2G cards are under $100  I went to AZ with 1.5 gigs and dumped them in a laptop as I filled them

It wasn't really a vacation per se, but while at a MTB race I shot a little over 2000 in two days. THAT was fun going through all of them. I did shoot a couple hundred while I was on my honeymoon, and I'll count those when I get home today.:D

My vacations are usually at racetracks.
Up to 1000 a day.

I'm not as nutz as I used to be, so I only shoot about 300 on a week long vacation nowadays. Most I ever shot was on my Alaska cruise in '01 - about 1600 or 1700 shots(25 rolls of assorted 36 exp, NPS, Velvia, Provia 100F, Portra 160 and 400, plus about 800 shots on my digital G1). I'm midway through my Florida vacation right now and I've only shot 100 so far on my SD550 (the only camera I brought with me).

Boy, I feel kinda conservative compared to some. I think I took around 800 on my last big trip. That was both film and digital. I just picked up two 80X-2g CF cards for about $96 and that included shipping, so I plan on shooting a lot more on my next trip.

I feel rather anemic compared to some of the others here. The most I've taken was six rolls of slides during two and a half days in the mountains.

I've yet to take my D200 on vacation...

Ummm....I spent the weekend in Vegas and took about 6.

The most I ever took was when I was film, and then I think it was a roll of color, and then half a roll of b&w. We took the girls to Chicago last year for the week and I took maybe 20.

I tend not to take my camera on vacation. Although we did just get a p&s digital, so maybe we'll take more next time.

Since I am leaving on vacation tomorrow and it will be the first time I've used a large card and had a computer to d/l them to, I won't know for sure until I get back. But if my grandson and granddaughter make it from Arizona I can all but guarntee a few thousand a day since we will also have nieces and nephews and one granddaughter from here. I shot about 1200 shots yesterday at my grandson and granddaughters soccer games (1 1/2 hours). I'll let you know for sure when we get back, but I'm guessing 3-5k will be a low guess. hehehe

I have just returned from my first true vacation with my new(ish) DSLR ... 9 days in PA (just beat the rain, thank goodness). I took just under 1500 pics for the trip. Day 9 was mostly night driving, so you could call it an 8 day trip.
