View Full Version : Finches and frawgs payn817 06-27-2006, 01:36 PM Yes, frawgs. I live in Ga. remember. Bevb 06-27-2006, 02:24 PM Great shots Payn817, the frog or "frawg" images are so sharp and the focus on the eye is very effective. What finches are these? payn817 06-27-2006, 02:26 PM LOL...oops. I thought they were goldfinches, but I was wrong. I'm sure someone will be along soon to correct me. :blush2: paulnj 06-27-2006, 04:34 PM I honestly can't call that anything besides a female american goldfinch. the plumage and beak color are off slightly, but what else could it be if it's native? Ah but it could be an escaped pet , such as the orange fronted yellow finch from brazil or the saffron finch from the same area :D Knight 06-27-2006, 04:38 PM Nice Payn nice :) payn817 06-27-2006, 04:39 PM PAUL!!!! You suck, you busted me! They are indeed yellow finches from Brazil. I found them in a HUGE (rainforest) conservatory at a botanical garden. There were about 5/6, and imposible to photograph flying here and there, and not letting anyone get within a decent range. paulnj 06-27-2006, 06:01 PM Thought so, you can't fool the king of the BIRD NERDS  Loupey 06-28-2006, 06:35 AM Good shooting, Payn! Looks like you were able to get right overtop that frog (sorry, frawg). That eye detail is amazing, even at these reduced resolutions. payn817 06-28-2006, 07:49 AM I wish I could have gotten that close. I was about 5 feet away at 300mm. you can see a reflection of me standing in one of them. The head on shot was about 2 feet away, if I recall. BTW - Have you found ex tubes in Minolta mount yet? |
