I just decided to take my raw files (photos) off my hard drive and save them to DVD. The problem that I have is when I go to open the files on the dvd it takes a very long time for them to open; a very long time, in excess of 15 minutes.
I saved them by dragging the files to the dvd and then burning the disc.
I know I must have done something wrong. Anyone got any suggestions?

I've never saved any of my fiels to DVD. But I have saved to CD. I do all of my archiving on external hard drives. I have noticed that opening from a CD is noticeably slower than opening from a hard drive or memory card. I would guess that the read time for CD and DVD players is just slower than for hard drives. How large are the RAW files? Maybe you should consider archiving to external hard drives instead? Or, if they're really archive files, then you shouldn't be accessing them much and you can just accept the time it takes them to open.
