I was reading short article about the Cecropia moth in Birds & Blooms (http://www.birdsandblooms.com/dycon.asp?parent=35238&RefURL=&KeyCode=&tdate=&PMCode=&OrgURL=) magazine last week. I was surprised to find out that this moth lives in my area, and I was wishing that I would come across one sometime. That sometime was today!! I was a toy. As I got closer, I could see it was a huge moth, so I stopped to check it out. Of course I didn't have my camera with me. :( I was able to touch it and I watched it for a minute or two before continuing my run. The moth just stayed there. When I got back to that spot about 15-20 minutes later, it was gone. Maybe it took off to find a mate, or maybe it became breakfast for a hungry bird... either way, I was thrilled that I had the opportunity to see and touch the largest moth in North America!
