I left a digital Minolta DImage in a hot car for a couple hours. Now when you focus and shoot a photo, or take a new photo and view on a computer it looks like dripping wet paint. To view an older photo through the viewfinder it appears fine.

Check this out:

I'd contact Sony about getting it repaired, under warranty (even if the original warranty has expired).
If it looks like the examples on that page, I doubt the hot car was the cause of the problem. It may have pushed the CCD over the edge, but even if it did, I'll bet it was likely to go soon anyway.

You're right the car had nothing to due with the problem, it is the CCD.

In the US call 1-877-462-4464. The repair is free even if it is out of warranty.
Thanks for the info Erik.

Thanks to this post, I now know I can service TWO Canon Digital P&S that have the same problem. There were two of these in the family that came out with the same problem. According to the Canon website, they will fix it for free regardless of warranty status.
Thanks!
