Nevertheless, it is a very effective photo with a great centre of interest. Ronnoco payn817 05-18-2006, 06:44 PM I wondered if perhaps it was too much.Do you find this more pleasing? Thanks for your input on the image, it was exactly what I was looking for. :) This is basically out of the camera. A slight crop, and shadow adjustment only. Ronnoco 05-19-2006, 05:58 AM My next suggestion would be to slightly brighten the front of the wagon and the bottom area including the shadow. The challenge is of course to keep it looking natural Ronnoco Anbesol 05-19-2006, 06:53 AM cool shot. i think the subject fills the shot a little bit too much, theres not enough backdrop. also maybe a bit too much USM. on the technical side of things though, awesome job. checking out the EXIF you did this on iso 80 at f5.6. pretty damned good DOF for f5.6 too. McMadCow 05-19-2006, 08:07 AM I think Anbesol hit the nail on the head with the composition. I'm not really liking how much the subject fills the frame, either (yeah, I know... coming from the guy who shoots portraits from 12" away...) but I think the technical aspects of the shot are really nice. To be sure, your shots have been steadily improving since you started posting here, and this is a good example. This shot would make a nice stock photo even with the composition issue (which is pure opinion on our part). GB1 05-19-2006, 10:27 AM Nice shot. I would actually crop out the bottom 1/6 to 1/4 of the photo. It seems to balance a little better like that. Pretty spot. GB payn817 05-19-2006, 06:33 PM Thanks everyone. This photo has been the source of oooohhh's and ah's all day. I took it for my uncle while we were hiking, and really thought it would suck, so didn't work at it at all. When I saw it, I felt differently. It was printed today with variations on post work, and one came out that was a keeper. This version is cropped more than the print, and a screen doesn't do it justice at all. McMadCow, thanks alot about the improvement comment, it means alot. Anbesol, it's the kit lens. It RAWKS for a kit lens! Anbesol 05-19-2006, 09:21 PM yes, even though the max aperture is pretty weak, it does definitely rawk! |
