Well done, both the composition and the 'framing'. But I'm not sure if the angle is the best - the kid's also blocking the view of his mom. A lot of negative space too. In all, it's a good environment and composition but it also makes one wonder what the focus of the photo is. I guess the subject could use more emphasis.

I really like the expression on the kid's face...but agree about blocking the mom's...I wish I could see her face too.
I don't mind the amount of space, and I do like the framing...it's a nice moment.

Having shot a number of these kinds of photos for presentations, I move in close at the level of the child, use a 28mm wide angle lens and available light for good depth of field and sharpness, and shoot in colour. A general guideline is that the eyes are a necessary part of this kind of photo as well.

IMO, i like the way the child is blocking the mom's face. it sort of makes him the subject, and the mom more background. i guess it's just one of those moments, but her expression is priceless. i also really like the B&W and the composition is supurb. the only thing i would change is that fork? in the foreground, the one standing up, not the one on the napkin. it's kind of distracting. :D
