View Full Version : My D200 Was ALMOST Delivered Today....
Speed 05-03-2006, 12:19 PM I stopped by the house at lunch time to let the dog out. (Now you know, Speed let the dog out!)
There on my door was a green and white tag from the FedEx guy saying, "Sorry we missed you". They are going to try again tomorrow.
In one of lifes little ironies, Dawn usually works on Thursdays and has Fridays off. One of the pediatricians wanted this Friday off, so Dawn switched days with her. Sooooo, my lovely wife will be home when he shows up tomorrow! (God must love me!)
So I should have my D200 in my hands by lunch time tomorrow!!!!
In another one of lifes little ironies, Dawn's ex-husband is a pro photographer. Dawn talked to him today, and told him she had ordered me a D200. Well, it's a small world, and he recently bought a D200! He couldn't find a body only, so he bought it with the kit lens (18-70mm), which he isn't real impressed with. I've heard that the D200 is a pro level camera (even though it's touted as a "pro-sumer" level). Turns out, pro's are using it as their primary body.
ken1953 05-03-2006, 12:50 PM Congrats Steve...new toys are always great...can't wait to see your first shots with it.
Ken
Speed 05-03-2006, 01:01 PM Yes they are!
I'm all but bouncing off the walls in anticipation!
;-)
photophorous 05-03-2006, 01:13 PM That's the worst. I hate the "Sorry we missed you" note. Thanks to internet package tracking, I'm usually prepared these days. I leave a note with my signature on the door, so they'll leave the package.
I'm about to buy a D70s, so I can understand your excitement. I might just call in sick the day it comes. :D
Paul
SpeedingSphere 05-03-2006, 01:15 PM heh should have seen me when my miniDV cam / 400mm f/5.6L / extra cam batteries / hoodman for camera / and air blower were on their way here... :-D
Good luck with that cam! Have fun!
Speed 05-03-2006, 01:34 PM Me too Paul!
"I'm about to buy a D70s, so I can understand your excitement. I might just call in sick the day it comes." :D
Wish I could do that, but I'm with the state man tomorrow!
And go ahead and buy that D70s buddy! Surely you've got a sick day you can take...
;-)
walterick 05-03-2006, 03:07 PM Heheh that was a close one! It's fitting that the D200 Goddess will be there to receive your camera though. Maybe she'll snap one of you walking through the door :)
Lionheart 05-03-2006, 05:41 PM oh I hate it when that happens. At least you know its out there trying to get home to you. I ordered my son's b-day present on sunday, and 4 phone calls and 2 e-mails later, it still hasn't processed and shipped, so I cancelled it. (don't buy from music123.com-they're awful).
So. Will there be champagne and celebrating when the new baby comes home?:-)
Speed 05-04-2006, 04:16 AM Yes, it is VERY fitting!
"Maybe she'll snap one of you walking through the door" :)
Unlikely. She knows very little about cameras, and I've got the CF card on me!
:-O
But I'm looking forward to lunch today!
Speed 05-04-2006, 04:17 AM Thank you for the comments!
And I DO intend to have LOTS of fun with it.
;-)
Speed 05-04-2006, 04:20 AM Yes I do, and it's a very comforting thought.
No champagne, but there will be a celebration!
:-D
paulnj 05-04-2006, 04:43 PM Well..... did it come?
deckcadet 05-04-2006, 06:09 PM Congrats Speed, I've been away since my old computer crashed and I didn't get all my old sites over to my new mac until now. Glad to see you're getting the D200- it's a great camera! I love mine and won't sell even though I got the D2HS yesterday. It has great AWB, nice AF and high ISO, good dynamic range, and amazing resolution. I love mine to death!
Speed 05-05-2006, 04:58 AM NO!!!!
It didn't come!
The note from Wednesday said it would be delivered on Thursday between 10 and 7. Dawn was at the house all day, and I was there in the afternoon. We saw the Fed Ex truck go by the house three times, but he didn't stop. At 7:30 we went to karate, and when we got home, there was another note saying they had tried to deliver it at 8:00!!!!
Dawn called Rick (the Fed Ex driver who tried to deliver it on Wednesday) and he said he was off Thursday, but it should be delivered by 7:00. Well, his fill in didn't deliver!
Dawn called the Fed Ex office this morning and asked them to deliver it to her office, so hopefully it will be delivered today. But I'm not going to hold my breath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm looking forward to getting mine! IF Fed Ex can get there mess together!
I've read before how much you love your D200, and I can hardly wait to get mine. Hopefully today.
So you got a D2Hs as well? I hadn't even heard that there was a D2Hs. I'll have to read up on that one.
Thanks for the comments buddy!
paulnj 05-05-2006, 05:19 AM You do know you can ARRANGE to pick it up at fed ex too! I have had Michelle do that before a few times!

Yep, but it's a drag because they're in Jacksonville (an hour drive from home). UPS on the other hand is in Havelock, and they are only 10 minutes away....
It did come today, BTW.
