Here are 2 shots from my son in laws first game of the season. They got walloped 16-6...but the had fun. We were the light blue team. Hope you like these. Shot at ISO 400, 1/80sec @ f4.5 (?). Lighting wasn't great so had to keep a slow speed. Shot 1 was cropped on the left side. Other than that there is no correction on anything...straight out of the camera.

Well Well Ken! You may make a sports photographer. Pretty good timing for what I think is one of your first sports efforts. The big thing to remember is try to shoot at your largest aperture and fastest shutter speed in most cases.

shoot wide open and more from the front. you've got the timing down though.

Hi OT...thanx for the comments. Yeah...other than some soccer shots last year of my granddaughter, these are some of my first real shots of sports. I'll take it to mean "arges = largest" aperture. hehehe...With the lens I was using, I think I was at it's largest, SMCP DA 50-200mm ED. I purposely didn't adjust these so that I could get some comments on if this works the way I shot them. I'll be shooting again next week, so hope to have more sun so I can use a faster speed.

livin', thanx for the suggestion. I was kind of limited on where I could shoot from since the fence around this particular field are very high. I'm hoping some of their games are at some of the other fields with lower fences where I can get some good base shots. I tried a couple and they were ok...I need some practice with them tho'..hehe

Ken, all things considered, I'd say you did a heckuva job. The real test will be those bright , late afternoon/sundown shots. What's great for landscape or nature, can really drive you nuts in sports shooting.
