View Full Version : NYC Mini Gathering Pics.....
Hi Everyone -
We had a great time - Megan, Joe Mags, Gene & Penny Rick, & me........I didn't get many people pics......but here's a couple I did get. First ones in the subway station.......we went to supper in Astoria - a place Megan took us to. The 3rd is on the ferry - just before we started out.
Peter_AUS 04-24-2004, 08:11 PM Really nice of you to post these pics Liz, but who is who I know which is penny, but only guessing with the others.
Looking forward to seeing more of the gathering.
By the way what camera did you take with you, was it just the G3, or did you take your DRebel as well.
We had a great time. We took the 3 hour Circle Line Ferry. It was a gorgeous day. The scenery was beautiful - but the company was the best! I know the others will have great photos to share.

Peter_AUS 04-24-2004, 08:47 PM Thanks Liz, nice to get faces to names from such a great distance that we are.
megan 04-25-2004, 10:11 AM peeking through the unzipped zipper of my fleece!
i had a blast meeting everyone - and sadly forgot 2 things:
1. forgot to gets joe mags's address to send my photo next fall when it's done [hehehehheh]
2. forgot to take a group picture with the pinhole! [i actually ended up not using that camera at all.]
Oh! Remember when we were in Times Square, and I told everyone to note the oddly dressed men ranting and I'd explain later? Well they are the guys that Brian - Kokopeli had in NYC and posted about. I *finally* found out what their organization is!

Kokopeli 04-25-2004, 02:18 PM Wanted to kick my white arse!!!
I still rememeber that day quite vividly.. All I did was lift my camera and the next thing I new I was being verbally assaulted from the man with the microphone and all I could see around me was more people just like him... I'll never forget that and I'll never understand the hate that one race can feel towards another just because of the color of their skin...
Good memory Megan, and thanks for the link. I found to be an interesting read.
Hope you all had a great time!
~Brian
walterick 04-25-2004, 03:11 PM Great to see you up here!
I don't know if you or John have the power, but could someone sticky this thread as the Official gathering post? That way we can all post our pics underneath it.
I love your shots, Liz. I love the fact that you took some people pics too :) I'll get cracking on my digital pics tonight (there are many) and hopefully get to develop my film prints later this week (there are many.)
I just got back home, after meeting Paul, Penny and Gene this morning at B&H and picking up some digital and film stuff. I met a friend for lunch and then scooted back down the east coast - only 4 1/2 hours to get home. Contrast that with the 8 it took me to get onto Long Island Friday :(
Anyhoo, more to come, thanks for posting these!
Rick
walterick 04-25-2004, 03:15 PM I still can't figure out how to "show unread threads." Can you tell me again?
walterick 04-25-2004, 04:24 PM Here's Liz :)
Walking through the subway in Astoria.
walterick 04-25-2004, 04:27 PM Picking her nose :p Actually, no but I told her I wouldn't post it because that's what it looked like :)
walterick 04-25-2004, 04:35 PM Sitting on the Circle Tour boat awaiting our departure.
walterick 04-25-2004, 04:36 PM Here's the group working it in the subway breezeway.
walterick 04-25-2004, 04:43 PM Wandering around Times Square, we stumbles across a dance troupe doing really neato dances on stage.
walterick 04-25-2004, 04:47 PM I tried to explain to everyone that these guys make music just as great as a classical concert. I don't think anyone else agreed
Here's the subway drummers and a subway scene with standersaround.
walterick 04-25-2004, 05:16 PM Here's a series of city shots:
1.) Brooklyn Bridge from the cruise
2.) City from the cruise
3.) City from Queens
4.) City in b+w from Queens
walterick 04-25-2004, 05:20 PM All these were with the Coolpix 885 - this was my first Photogathering with a digital camera, so you get instantaneous feedback from me for once :)
Looking forward to seeing some more from the Bowhays, Liz, Joe and (eventually) Megan (LOL) and hopefully within the week I'll beback with some prints to scan.
Adios!
Thanks for gathering!
Rick
Hi Rick -
Thanks for posting the photos. NICE! I'm looking forward to seeing more from everyone. BTW, none of my pics of the dancer were good. I was too far away. I'd love to get a couple prints of her....hint.....hint.......
Now, in answer to your question - to get "view first unread" - At the top of the thread "NYC Mini Gathering Pics, see "Post Reply" - right under that, click into "View First Unread." It doesn't always get you exactly in the right place, but it's close most of the time.
I'll try to make this a sticky.....
Liz

walterick 04-25-2004, 06:51 PM Is it possible that it's only an option with AOL? For the life of me, I can't see it! :(
Thanks for the compliments on the pics. If only I could decide which to send...
... hmm... if only I had a hint... hmmm...
LOL ;)
You know what we forgot was to exchange mailing addresses to send each other pics :(
Thanks for the response!
Rick
Click into VF
Click into this thread - Look at the first post (mine)
At the beginning of the first post - look at my name "Liz" at the top left of the first post
Look above my name - keep looking up until you see "View first unread" - right below "Reply"
:)
Liz
walterick 04-26-2004, 04:23 AM Liz, I just don't think it's here. Maybe if someone else more knowledgeable about these things could chime in. My box says "Post Reply" not "reply" so maybe that's an indicator that there's a difference between the AOL page and the Explorer page. That's all I can think of!
Thanks for trying, I appreciate it. You gave excellent direction, I just think I'll never get to view uread threads :(
Rick
Peter_AUS 04-26-2004, 04:27 AM Walterick, look just under post reply and you will see a link to "view first unread". This is when you have click on a post to read.
paulnj 04-26-2004, 04:39 AM We Gathered on Saturday and then again on Sunday and enjoyed every minute. These will be some of the best memories of our life.
As I said, we Gathered again on Sunday with Paul and Michelle. We learned the ropes of shopping at B&H, we did Central Park and then we had lunch together. Do you think any of us thought to get a picture of the 4 of us -- nope! I guess we were having too much fun shooting birds, bums and botanical beauty. That's why there has got to be a "next time!"
Pictures coming soon -- promise!
Best to All,
Penny & Gene
PICS OF ME ARE A RARE SITING.....NONE ALOUD!!!!!! :D
WE TOO had a fantabulous time with THE BOWHAYS .
It was fun being you personal tripod rep at B&H
It was fun walking through central park IDing every bird i heard or had seen
It was great conversing with both of the BOWHAYS
It was great powering done food.......
BUT THAT RAIN WAS UNCALLED FOR!!!!!!!
Hi Rick :) In order to see the features Liz is referring to, you need to change the view mode to Linear.
You can do this two ways.
1. Click on "My Account" (Top Left Bar on screen)
Click on "Edit Options"
Scroll down to "Thread Display" section
Select "Linear"
"Save Changes"
In this mode, you lose the threaded look, but you will see the options you are looking for.
Another way to change to Linear is.
Click on Viewfinder
Click on the NY post
Look at the second bar down all the way to the right.
Click on "Display Modes"
Change it to "linear"
Hope this helps.
That's the glitch! Glad you're around Lara - that never even occurred to me. ;) :D

NP Liz :) It took me a while to figure out what the problem could be myself.
Fun photos by the way! It's nice to see the faces that go with the names. The landscapes of NY are awesome, and the photos of the QM2 Wow, that ship is Huge! Looking forward to seeing more!
megan 04-26-2004, 10:10 AM I found that link doing a quick google search, then read it after I posted it. Disclaimer - views on the website are not necessarily the views of the one who posted it! It was the best link with a picture and a coherent explanation!

megan 04-26-2004, 10:14 AM That's a really great pic of Liz!
Megan
paulnj 04-26-2004, 10:42 AM I have a few nature oriented images too, but GENE took basicly the same images.
I'll not take his fame..... yet
the color cast was too much for my obsenely tired eyes, so AWAY IT WENT ;)
this is the castle behind the museum? around 82nd(in central park)
megan 04-26-2004, 11:18 AM Yup - they've got a mini weatherstation on the top floor.
Megan
walterick 04-26-2004, 05:02 PM Super-Lara to the rescue!
Thanks, that makes a lot more sense. I'm kinda addicted to the Hybrid look but I'll switch over for a bit - just this once ;)
Thanks again,
Rick
walterick 04-26-2004, 05:05 PM I too had the time of my life! Would that I could make all photogatherings that fun! ;)
I left just as the weather was getting nasty. Hey, I only promised it would be nice while *I* was there ;)
Anxiously awaiting more pics!
Rick
p.s. Hope your trip back was better than the one out :(
walterick 04-26-2004, 05:09 PM Shoulda snapped one off as I was standing there in BH with you
Sounds like you guys carried on the photogathering in true fashion. I wanted to be there with you but I also wanted to get home.
Yeah, it must've been in the 50's with rain and wind when I left. Nothing like Saturday!
Glad to have (briefly) made your acquaintance there, friend.
Rick

LOL Super-Lara huh? Thanks Rick, I needed that! Happy to help, any time :D
walterick 04-26-2004, 05:43 PM You are a "Super Moderator" are you not? The extension just seemed natural ;)
So, if Liz and Charles are Moderators, John is the Administrator, does that make you...
GOD?!
Thanks for all the good posts......I really had a good time....here are some more pics. :D
42nd St. Gang
Times Square - Projectdance.com - from across the street. They were great!
Skyline & sailboat
the Queen Mary - cropped to see it closer. I think Joe Mags will have some closer shots as he used his awesome 300mm Sigma lens.

Maybe next gathering.....hope it's soon.

walterick 04-26-2004, 06:33 PM Your Queen Mary shot is great. By chance, did you see the shots below by Jakkar of the QM2 and fireworks that night?
Strange thing, NO ONE IN NY knew about the Queen Mary. I asked my 2 friends who live there and my mom who's been there a few weeks and no one knew about it. I had to explain it to them. And then they all wanted to go :) I heard about it all the way down here in VA. It was actually a pretty big story.
Glad you got a chance to post some more!
Rick
Seeing the Queen Mary 2 - even from a little distance was one of my high points on Saturday. I was also jealous of Jakkar's shots. Wow! He certainly had a prime spot. I just replied to his post actually. I'm sure you know it was the QM2's maiden voyage and the QE2's last voyage. Nice piece of history.
Gene & Penny were hoping to go to the fireworks - sounds like they had a busy day. I'm sure we'll hear from them very soon.
thanks for the nice comments.

GOD?!:) The title isn't something I chose, that's for sure. It's just part of the programming of VBulletin. Not a God by any stretch of the imagination!
Since I dislike that title immensely, I just did a little editing and figured out I could change it without posting much of a bio. I have no real profile, yet ;) Maybe some day I'll have a camera worth shooting awesome photos like yours!
walterick 04-27-2004, 03:56 AM And here I thought you were like Photo-John's boss or something...
Can you still pick on him for me though?
I guess I was wondering what role you play here on the message boards. You seem to pop in at just the right time - like a guardian angel - and fix problems like you did here. You have that "ethereal glow" so I thought maybe you were like the Oracle in the Matrix.
There is no spoon.
You can still do me a big favor though. Tell Photo-John that he owes me a picture of me holding a tarantula. If his brain's not yet fried from running this website he'll know what I mean.
...
Hey flattery will get you everywhere! Thanks for the compliments but remember: any camera is just a box holding film. You can create beautiful images using an old Brownie if you want to. To me it's all about the vision.
Rock on, Super-Lara!
Rick
walterick 04-27-2004, 03:58 AM Phew. And here I thought you'd lost your niche ;)
Ask him if he remembers the "rainbow image" when you tell him about Rick's tarantula pleeeease! And Lara, you're great - I agree 200% with Rick.
Have a great day Rick.
Wonder where Gene & Penny are - they must still be sleeping after those plane rides.

walterick 04-27-2004, 04:03 AM From the way they described their trip to NY I wondered if their pilot had ever flown a plane before..
I'm sure they're spending countless hours uploading and editing NY gathering photos for us :)
Yes Lara just keep nagging Photo-John for us until his head explodes ;)

RickLOL Oh my goodness PJ's boss hahahahahaha no! John's the "Master of the House"
I can pick on him for you, but it won't do any good :p
I do what's called "quality control" dumb title huh? Anywho, there are several sites at Consumer Review, and If someone needs help or assistance, I'm there. Honestly, I didn't have to hang around Photography Review once I was able to guide the members with the ins and outs of new forums, but I just love it here! The people and the photography have me addicted to this site, and if I can still help with forum issues, I'm happy to do it.
Steve has also encouraged me to stay interested in taking the plunge into the world of photography. Once I'm able to buy a decent camera, gulp, I might just post a couple of photos here. Who knows?
walterick 04-27-2004, 04:17 AM Yes I should be going to work right now but I am sitting here in front of this computer wasting away the day...
...sigh..
Hey at least you're getting paid!
Well, just becasue you're not John's boss I still think you should stick whoopie cushions under his chair and stuff. Just tell him Rick did it.
Thanks for hanging around this site. I enjoy your presence here.
Rick
p.s. We'll keep our eyes open for Super-Lara pics in the future ;)
Thanks Rick! See, it's awesome people like you and Liz who motivate me to stay here :) Have a great day!
Oh yes, and my buddy Steve! Can't forget him :D
I'm so glad you made it safe & sound. It's good you had an uneventful plane trip. You did get some nice shots from different angles. Nice & sharp! I love viewing all these shots from our weekend in NYC. Cool
I'm grateful I was able to take the day off Saturday to meet you - and I really enjoyed our day together. Hopefully it won't be too long before we start planning another one!
Like everyone else, I'm back to work......and trying to find the bottom of the paper work!
Have a great week.
Liz
We know Paul GOT THE SHOT in Central Park, but we tried:
paulnj 04-27-2004, 06:25 AM GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT ...and i'm still waiting patiently :D
paulnj 04-27-2004, 06:34 AM I THINK I MAY HAVE....... but these are GREAT for a handheld long lens WITHOUT IS!!!!!
some day we can all get together in TRUE NATURE and spend more than 3 hours.
2 days with me and I'll have you stalking nature like a cat ;)
2 days with the Bowhays and i'll be framing landscapes better too :D
Jakkar 04-27-2004, 06:58 AM Penny,
The one you took from the water of the Colgate clock. The twin red brick towers to the right and behind them is my building. I don't know that I can count up to my 30th floor so maybe I am not in the picture afterall.
Jeff
paulnj 04-29-2004, 05:01 AM lighten up the red eared slider image(all actually... could be my monitor though?) :)
the male cardinal handheld at 1/160th on a 170-500 is great Gene!
The robin is good too!!!!
speeking of " my lens" were are the images taken with my 28-70 f2.8???
I would have passed off ANY GEAR i had with me...... as mentioned in EMAIL and HERE!!!!
A 100-400 ISN'T a big lens....... a 400f2.8 is though :D
NO BIRD IMAGES from me in this thread...... the AVIAN GLORY belongs to my Bowhay FRIENDS!!!!!
when ever you hit the EAST COAST.... I'll surely try my best to JOIN IN AGAIN!!!
btw... your gear was not too shabby either :)
natatbeach 04-29-2004, 05:09 AM I won't be discouraging you from moving---that just means you'll be closer to us :D
these are wonderful Gene especially the turtle and Robin
Nice shots.......I love the landscape with the trees, buds, gentle colors....excellent. I never would have thought of shooting this area......great capture.
It was really good spending time with you and Penny - and the rest of the gang. I hope we can do it again soon.
Liz ;)
After being back in California for a few days, I'm ready to pack up everything and move to New York. The energy in NYC REALLY draws me to that great city. Also, the air is clean and there's much more than skyscrapers.
I took this first picture from the Circle LIne Cruise Boat. This is the woods with the trees getting their spring leaves located near Sugar Hill.
The other bird pictures and the turtle were all taken in Central Park.
I'm ready to start planning another trip to NYC and I know that PhotoExpo is coming sometime in October. What do all of you think about planning another Gathering around that time? Think about it!
Best Regards.
Gene Bowhay
Woodland Hills, CA
P.S. And yes, I'm sure that Paul's pictures are a lot better than mine. You should have seen the glass he had attached to his camera!
walterick 04-29-2004, 05:07 PM I especially enjoyed the Cardinal shot (get it? cardinal shot) because it;s VA's state bird, and hey, it's a great shot :)
Bad news from me: I can't find the 3 rolls of B+W I shot on the trip :( I'm always losing film and refinding it though so it'll probably pop up again in no time.
Again, great shots Gene!
Rick
walterick 04-29-2004, 05:12 PM what's an industrial age cloister?
megan 04-30-2004, 04:27 AM what's an industrial age cloister?
<LOL>
From Merriam-Webster online:
1 a : a monastic establishment b : an area within a monastery or convent to which the religious are normally restricted c : monastic life d : a place or state of seclusion
2 : a covered passage on the side of a court usually having one side walled and the other an open arcade or colonnade
#2 can usually be found at #1.
It's a great pic of Liz!
Megan
And I liked the term a lot. Perfect title - and thanks for the kind words.....I also like the photo. Nice job Rick.
Rick - please Email me at Marymarla @ aol.com - and I'll send you my address if you would PLEASE send me a print (small)....I also would like to have one or two of your excellent images of the dancer. Mine were ALL BAD! I didn't do well at all with all the contrast of the bright sun, building/glass glare, her dark complexion, the gold dress and dark shadows......now I know what I have to work on. Also - you were closer and had a longer zoom (I had to find some excuse for my poor results). :o
PS - please put "Rick" in the subject so I won't delete your email as I usually don't open any emails unless I know who they're from. Thanks.

Asylum Steve 04-30-2004, 08:03 AM I know you guys are sharing these with each other, but I just want you all to know how much the rest of us enjoy viewing the photos and reading the comments about the weekend.
Seriously, it's almost like when I get family pics from my sister in Europe...
It also reminds me how much I miss NY. I would really like to try to get up there for a visit this summer or early fall. Hopefully some of you up that way will have time to get together for a beer and a slice! :D
Thanks for the comments Steve, and the kind words. :) I did wonder if other people not involved enjoyed reading the posts. I'm glad you're enjoying them :D .
You know, your idea about another NY gathering, along with others mentioning more visits to NY made me think that it might be worth pursuing it further. Because NY is where a lot of people go for vacation, weekends, business, etc., and it's easily accessible - why couldn't we have more frequent gatherings - or just times when a few people could get together for fun. I know I would be there whenever possible, even change my schedule.
We could put the word out - and even if it's only a few people (we had 6) so what? We certainly enjoyed it. Joe & I were only there Saturday, and Paul on Sunday, Rick 2 days, Penny & Gene 4-5 days including their looooonnng plane ride. I love NY and go into the city as often as I can. It's never boring.
Just a thought. In answer to your original question - yes, I would love to meet anyone, anytime when they're in NY! I live 25 minutes by bus from NY and could offer a room or two for anyone interested.
Just to add to your idea. :D
Liz

but 2 slices sound GEEEEERR ATE :D
megan 04-30-2004, 09:22 AM I've always loved the light in that passage - and most people probably think it's ugly, but I've always loved the rich colors of the layers of paint and raw architecture of the exposed iron work. It's funny how beauty can be found in such an ordinary, utilitarian, mundane place as a subway passage. And rick's camera captured the colors perfectly!
Megan
PS of course I was being melodramatic with the "I'm so misunderstood!" ;)
Asylum Steve 04-30-2004, 10:16 AM Liz,
I've learned the hard way not to use the "G" word if I can help it. If I come up for a visit, I'd let everyone know, and then whomever can get together gets together.
At this point, whether it's called a Gathering or not makes little difference to me...
Thanks for the comments Steve, and the kind words. :) I did wonder if other people not involved enjoyed reading the posts. I'm glad you're enjoying them :D .

walterick 04-30-2004, 04:43 PM We wouldn't dream of taking you seriously! :p
I get it now, thanks for explaining it for me. I even got my Master's from a Catholic College
walterick 04-30-2004, 04:47 PM 1.) I just shot you an email
2.) I just pointed and shot :) If my camera hadn't had automatic mode, those dancer pictures would've stunk, I promise you! God bless electronic cameras (though I shouldn't keep giving away my secrets!)
I'll mail you those pics when I get your address. That reminds me, too we ALL still need to exchange addresses! How should we go about picking out prints? Should we all just make requests of each other? Or we pick out which to send?
I think we have plenty of time before we need to start worrying about prints.
Rick
walterick 04-30-2004, 04:56 PM I'll have to bow out of another NY gather - um - get together this year, especially around that time. I am planning a 2-week assault on the Southwest US in early fall and wouldn't be able to afford BOTH (I'll probably be working weekends to pay for it, too)
BUT if anyone would like to consider a Las Vegas gathering in late September, I'll be there :)
Rick
p.s. Have fun in NY!
I agree - no rush for the prints.. I'll send you my address. The prints you mentioned are fine - I'd love to get them. BTW, speaking of prints - I think your gallery image of the dark cloud with the sun below reflecting down on a town is AWESOME. Congratulations on being at the right place at the right time. Incredible!
Dancer - I tried aperture priority and auto.....and tried metering on grayish areas....nothing worked. I think the auto on the P&S cameras are set to do a better job than the DSLR. However, you did great.

walterick 04-30-2004, 05:43 PM I saw that scene unfolding in front of me and thanked my lucky stars that I had my camera and gear in stow with me :) It was one of those days I MADE myself go for a walk and gee did it pay off! Thanks again!
I think it's funny what you said about p&s auto mode being better than Dslr's :) I would hope you're wrong (for the amount of money paid) but I have no point of reference to argue from.
Have a good one!
Rick
Hi Rick,
I thought I read about P&S camera settings vs DSLR settings here (I remember now - it was posted by Michael Fanelli a while back). But I've read it elsewhere too.
I read that digital point & shoot cameras are set up for users who want a great pic right out of the camera - the normal p&s snapshooters, so the images are sharper, etc. right out of camera without a lot of work/post processing, etc.. Whereas the DSLR's are geared toward photographers whom it is assumed will do the fine tuning, etc. (sort of like RAW vs JPEG type thing). I find I get sharper images with less work with my G3, but the quality of the Rebel with an "L" lens is waaaaay far better. Make sense?
But.......It's late, I'm tired, and I may not be explaining this as clear as Michael did - but I hope you get what I'm trying to say.....my brain is on overload this weekend. Too much to do - and the weekend hasn't even begun!

walterick 05-01-2004, 04:21 AM That your dslr's would let YOU do all the sharpening yourself. But I still find it kind of silly...
Have a good weekend! I'm still struggling to get back in the groove after last weekend :)
Rick
Ok......start posting! ;) And have a great weekend!

Hi Everyone -
We had a great time - Megan, Joe Mags, Gene & Penny Rick, & me........I didn't get many people pics......but here's a couple I did get. First ones in the subway station.......we went to supper in Astoria - a place Megan took us to. The 3rd is on the ferry - just before we started out.
walterick 05-07-2004, 05:41 PM I got 2 rolls of black and white from the cruise back today.
PLUS Megan and Joe haven't shared! -hint-
Thanks Master Liz!
joemags 05-07-2004, 06:43 PM Hello all. I'm glad this was put back up. I was wondering what happened to it. I just got my film back a few days ago, and have been too lazy to do the scanning. Let me say I had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone. Thank god Penny and Gene are such nice honest people and didn't take Pauls advise to sell my speedlight for fifty bucks. I mean I would have at least tried to get a hundred! A love all the pics that have been posted so far, most especially the shot of Liz on the "L" platform that Rick took. Just outstanding! I wish I could have made the park on Sunday. Maybe next time. I really hope we do another meet later in the year.
Take Care,
Joe Mags
joemags 05-07-2004, 06:45 PM These are the last two I have scanned.
walterick 05-07-2004, 07:03 PM I'm glad you've had a chance to post up here, Joe! I was hoping you had some to add.
I love your first one, I think you found an excellent row of subjects there.
Thanks for the compliments on Liz's picture. I saw that happening and knew it had to be taken :D Plus Liz ain't such a bad subject :D
Hope that you and Megs can get some more up here. In fact, I hope everybody can! I have 2 rolls from the cruise plus another color roll I haven't even processed yet. Thanks for keeping the thread alive.
paulnj 05-08-2004, 04:13 AM come on now Joe.....
I was joking as I'm sure you know!
THOSE BOWHAYS are by far the COOLEST, most honest people I've had the pleasure of meeting in a LONG TIME!!!!
but I attract people like myself :)
your photo skills shine here my fellow NJ ian ;)
Joe, I'm so glad you got some pics up here. They're really sharp......nice lens! Worth the "weight in gold" I see! I really enjoyed your differents shots, especially the first one....and the guy in the canoe. I shot him too, but was too far away.
Well, I'm going back to NY today for a few hours......I love walking around the city especially on Saturdays. Everything is buzzin'.
Have a great day everyone - and keep posting. :)
Liz
These are the last two I have scanned.
walterick 05-09-2004, 06:57 PM I've a few from the street...
I shot these on Ilford FP4+...
... sorry, I'm watching Harry Potter on tv and being distracted...
in my FM2N. Mostly with the 28-105 Sigma UCIII.
These were "scanned" using my Nikon Coolpix 885 and a slide copy adapter from the negs, so don't be surprised if they're "weird." I'm pointing them at a light bulb so they've got uneven lighting (and a high spot) I'll get a few posted tonight then do the rest later.
Thanks for looking.
1.) Megan and crew on the street.
2.) Peering over Joe Mags shoulder as he shot hear Times Square.
walterick 05-11-2004, 08:14 PM I just shot these from the neg with the Coolpix tonight. I am getting better at that, I think. (I refuse to buy a film scanner I refuse to buy a film scanner)
Anyway, these are from the 8008s, Ilford FP4+ and Sigma 28-105
1.) Liz with Gene, I thought it was cute
2.) Megan and her... Diana?
is the sign above "Smart and Stunning" :p
Glad to see more pics Rick........keep 'em coming. Make sure making this a "sticky" again is worth it! :) Just kidding.
Thanks for posting these - very nice.

walterick 05-12-2004, 04:17 AM I didn't even catch that when I saw it! Shows how selective attention works, huh? I was more interested in your smile and Gene's look. Hm, well you learn something by hearing from other photographers, huh?
Thanks
walterick 05-12-2004, 04:33 AM the title you want and then Liz gets the other one :)
I'm working on a Las Vegas gathering for September. I know the Boston gathering may be around that time, too. Any takers?
Thanks for the compliments!
to demote this thread to "unsticky" - hope it's ok with you Rick! Other threads have taken priority - :p

walterick 05-23-2004, 07:47 PM I just pulled these off the negs tonight. They're not the greatest scans, but I thought that the graininess added a certain charm :) I love the expression of the boy's face :)
