The best HS game I have seen in a long time. Going into the 6th inning for the vistors they trailed 3-0, but before they were done they were leading 6-3. Coming down to the final out of the game they still led 6-3, but suddenly, with 2 out the home team struck back and tied the game at 6. Then in the 8th after a controversial play at first base that wound up with the pitcher injured for the visitors the home team won on a play at the plate, ironically the throw to the plate came from the center fielder who was also the starting pitcher for the vistors. If the throw from center had been lower the game would have continued as the catcher had the p late blocked but had o jump for the ball...Oh so close!
#1: The right fielder makes a catch
#2: A hit in the sixth, one of the three hits that wound up causing one of four errors for the home team in the inning. (it should have been a double play, instead both runners were safe)
#3: One of three runners thrown out by the coaches son and catcher during the game, 2 at second one at third.
#4: The final play at home as the ump singnals safe and the home team in the background begins to celebrate.
This was a really fun game to shoot as well! :D

Some great action here John. I know that there is a school of thought that likes the motion blur in sports, but I'm from teh old school. Stop that action anytime you can.
As always they are great, but that last one has me cheering! Now that is a simply AMAZING picture JS! The action is awesome, but tie that in with the team in the background. Priceless. I also took note the BALL IS EVEN IN THE PIC you stinker!:p

HI JETA! I wish you could see the the two the papers are using from that series at home plate. THis is just one of 8 shots of the play, and all but one shows the ball. One paper ran a shot that shows the catcher in a cloud of dust holding the ball in his right hand showing the coach he had the ball, and the other team celebrating behind him. I'll hear about it though....from both the catcher and his father the coach! The last time I shot this team I got a shot from behind homeplate of the same catcher being struck out by his own cousin  and pops wasn't too happy with that shot ... Oh well.

Thanks everyone. The funny part is I almost left the game early as I had more than enough for the papers (triple payday for this and the middle school track as they were both at the ame school :D :D :D ). I wanted to get home and do some work around the house....didn't make it, and if I'd have left the writer would have killed me  and after the game he was looking for me and asked if I got anything from the play at the plate. I said I had one, then this morning I got an email from him saying they were great.... a first for him, he never says anything good about anyones photos so taking time to eamil me was as surprise

I love the play at second. I can nver seem to get a really good one at second taht that one of my favorite plays in baseball. I always seem to get an umpires rump in the picture or something else messing up the action.

I have always been lucky on my shots at second. I tend to get the best second base shots from about 5 feet towards home plate from 1st or 3rd base. The problem is most places won't allow you to shoot in that area, however most umpires know me and know I will either get out of the way or stand still. It gets tricky at playoff time though :D
