Northern Flicker Colaptes auratus

Gilded Flicker, in particular



Today, heading in to bathe. First pic is dry, next two he's taking a bath. You can see him closing an eye and shaking off the water. A point of interest is that he's bathing in an actual 1,000 year old metate.

Nice shots!

I wish I was still in my house, because condo life doesn't make attracting birds too easy .

I really need to get back to Tx and Az , because that's were I had the most success with bird imagery(well besides florida waders). I am more of a raptor/neotropical chaser, but woodpecker are great too.
