I have a Minolta flash from my dad's x-700. Its a 280 px. It works when off the camera by pressing the test button but as soon as I put it on the camera the the on flash test wont work and it work through the camera. This is on a D70s. Any suggestions?

Hi xsport...I was reading an article in Popular Photography and Imaging today about flashes. It did not happen to mention that particular flash, but the article did recommend that you contact the manufacturer to ensure that the flash will work on your particular camera. Alot of it has to do with voltages and of course bells and whistles. The gist of the article, that I gathered, was always check with the manufacturer. Many will but some will cause problems and some may need adapters.
Hope this helps a little bit.

And it will not work, as the contacts on the base are not making the correct contacts with the Nikon Hot shoe. You can use a standard hot shoe flash (Manual or trysistor not programable) or a NIkon or Nikon campatable Flash.
