:)

Hello! I am thinking about getting a Canon Rebel K2 and may get the kit with the 28-90mm lens or get the body and get a different lens. I would be basically using the auto functions of the SLR until I can take classes to learn manual operations. I am mainly photographing nature (especially flowers, scenic landscapes, etc.), but I'm branching out to broaden my muse. I'd like maybe an extra lens with a 70-200(10)mm or what not. Should I go for an extra lens above that, which would be a good for my level and interests? I've looked at a catalog from B&H for lenses by Phoenix, Tamron, etc.... but I cannot afford a sweet 70-200mm lens wlith f.2.8. I need something I can use even with the auto settings, and I'd like it to be fairly rounded for the mean time. I'd really appreciate some input on this. Thanks in advance.

I imagine any recommendation depends on how much you are willing to spend. I suppose less than 1000 USD because that's where the cheapest 70-200 f/2.8 (Sigma) sits. If you can swing 600 USD, there is one, and only one, recommendation from me: Canon 70-200 F/4.0L

Read the reviews on this site. Most people agree that this is a whopping fine lens for an extraordinary price. Including the much beloved 50mm f/1.8 (which unfortunately I have never used) and the very nice 17-40 f/4.0L, this lens is one of the absolute best deals out there.
