Does anyone know if canon will be coming out with a 30D in the near future. If so I will wait, and if not, I will probably get the 5D.

Nobody knows because Canon have not yet made an announcement. A lot of people (including me) think that Canon will announce a 20D replacement before PMA at the end of February. I think it will be like the 5D body (with the built-in flash put back), with a 10MPix APS sized sensor and the same 5 frames-per-second performance as the 20D for less that 1600$. But this is just a guess.

Wait till the end of February. Then choose.

I see that Canon are NOT at the UK imaging show at the end of February - yet Nikon are.
I'll send you in news from there if anything is announced - or rumoured.

The annual PMA tradeshow is taking place at the end of February and I'll be there. I also expect that Canon will make their PMA product announcements in the next couple of weeks. There are always a flurry of press releases in the weeks before the show.

But if you want the 5D, why not just buy the 5D?
