View Full Version : Rubber Duckie, You're the One ...
Shot through the window of a bath fixtures store (www.bathstore.com) in St. Albans, UK.
There were hundreds of these little guys set up all over the store, all over and around the fixtures. I wanted to buy a bathtub just because their displays were so attractive! :D
Anyway, comments?
swmdrayfan 01-27-2006, 03:28 PM ...you make bathtime lots of fun...
Considering this was shot thru a window, it's nicely done, although the duckies seem a tad soft.

julsoph 01-27-2006, 04:22 PM Lol...this is really a funny picture. They look half manic and half like the little creatures in Toy Story...:D
As to the photo, I think it's very fun, and I love the colors of the ducks, as well as their reflections in the counter underneath them. The only thing I don't like as much is the sign in the left upper corner...BUT there's not much you can do cropping-wise, and also, the blue is at least continued in it...which is kind of cool anyhow. :)

John, they're made of rubber, of course they're soft! Just kidding of course. I struggled with the natural light that day because it was grey and cloudy. And as I think about it, I think maybe this picture was taken inside the store, which cut down my light even more. I did sharpen the shot, do you think I should sharpen more?
I have another one composed slightly more centered, but of course I had to blow the focus on that one. ~Sigh~
Emily, I didn't like the sign when I took it, but I didn't see any alternatives. Should I try cloning it out?
Herriot 01-27-2006, 05:05 PM I like it Kelly, particularly that all of the ducks are not directly facing the camera (much as I suspect a paddling of real ducks would probably be...or maybe I am getting carried away now!!) I like the small amount of reflection that we can see so my comment would be that it would have been nice if we could have seen a bit more of that in the shot, obviously I have no idea how much reflection there was on offer... Great shot through a window!

julsoph 01-27-2006, 05:27 PM You could definitely try cloning it out...but it's not like it "ruins" the photo, having it there, you know? Try it and see how it looks though! If you are able to do it successfully, I would crop the picture to where the sign begins...(but that's just what I would do...it may be fine sans crop!)...
Btw, I like the fact that the ducks aren't all "looking" at the camera too...but that the front two are. :)

dbutler 01-27-2006, 07:01 PM I love this shot!! What fun!! I thought they were looking pretty mutinous myself. Great find.
swmdrayfan 01-27-2006, 07:16 PM Upon further review................you're right. I didn't look closely enough. I guess these eye allergies are messing with my sight.
No harm, no foul. ;)
gahspidy 01-27-2006, 10:48 PM I like this shot. I especially like that the ducky in the rear is looking the other direction. I think you could just bring up the levels a bit, and maybe clone out the sticker in the bg wall. i think this is great
Chunk 01-28-2006, 07:06 AM Good eye Kelly. The shot brings an instant smile. How about cropping to a panorama to get rid of the sticker (and maybe straighten while you are at it)? It seems to have a greenish cast from the window or lighting. It would be a great shot for hanging in a kid's bathroom.
BTW, I did an Invert to see if the ducks would turn out yellow. I thought it looked kinda neat.
