Hi all,

Just now, I have decided to signup to this forum because it seems to have a pretty active community. Of course I have a question now (see below), but I will also try to assist on other problems where I can....

Now my camera: the Canon Powershot A75. It has this very nice feature of 'photo stitch' in one of the selection options on the 'jog-dial' button. But I hardly ever use that feature.... My problem: when I switch my camera on in 'auto'-mode, it starts default with the 'photo-stitch' setting?!! The camera usually started with a 1-shot photo with flash, shutterspeed and other options very nicely working in auto mode.

I have tried almost every menu option to get it to start normal in 'auto'-mode but I cannot find how to get this done! I have even flashed a newer BIOS, hoping that would reset every part of the camera back to factory default, but still.. no luck!?

Any help would be greately appreciated!

Call Canon support and ask them to walk you through a HARD RESET. This may clear it up, or they may have another suggestion.

Sounds like you probably have tried everything. In which case, JSPhoto's advice is probably the best. But here are a couple of things I thought of. First of all, have you tried taking out and replacing the batteries? If you haven't, sometimes that clears the memory and fixes some problems.

The other thing that occurred to me, is you may actually have a mechanical error. What happens when you rotate the mode dial? Does it move to the correct next mode? Or is it one off? I don't know the position of the modes on that camera. But if the photostitch mode is on dial, next to the auto mode, then maybe the dial is off by one? If the photostitch mode is a "picture mode," within a picture mode menu, then I think you'll have to do as JSPhoto suggests and contact Canon. Or step up to the manual modes...
