Last weeks Reponses Photo magazine had a piece about the 300D vs the D70 which I didn't repeat here, it seemed like pure speculation, plus USA prices & Europe prices are quite different. What they said was that the low price of the 300D had driven down the price of the D70 but that we could now expect the price of the 300D to drop to 800$. We could also expect a new EOS next fall to counter the D70, a sort of digital 30v...

And then - I noticed this afternoon that the price of the 300D with kit lens had dropped by 100€ ($120) to 1199€ in my local camera store. Couldn't check out the D70, it's been sold out for days.

I've heard that there will be a price reduction on the 300D in the beginning of June or July. And I think it was supposed to be about $200 US. And I would also expect that Canon will have something new for the consumer market at Photokina, in September.

The body is $899 - the kit is $999

This is a great sign IMO since it probably means the newer DSLR's may be less$ (hopefully) :)

I purchased the "kit" but sold the lens almost immediately. Guess I was thinking I paid $999 just for the body since that's all I have!

I just checked today, and the price did indeed drop at B & H... the body is down to $869.95 and the kit is down to $929.95. And, at Amazon.com, the 10D has dropped to $1425. Just food for thought...

Newegg now has the 10D for $1,357...I'm getting excited, I've been waiting forever for the 10D to get into my price range....hopefully just a little longer.
