Happy Holidays everyone! I've missed reading your posts and looking at your sports pics!

Things went a little bonkers here over a month ago. My family got sick and my daughter got very ill. Scared the living daylights out of me, but she's almost fully recovered thank god.

Isn't it weird that I can post on a board, talk to people I've never met and think of them on Christmas morning?

JS! I HAD A FRIGGIN' HEART ATTACK this morning! Check out my new siggy!

I was wondering how you were and what happened! I'm glad your family is getting better, sounds like a rough month.

It looks though as though someone had a Happy Christmas :D (and an expensive one too!)

Glad your back JETA!!

:::::::::waving:::::::::: It's so great to be back here.

Honestly, I feel pretty darn foolish with this camera being that I'm a pretend photographer. So far I've learned to charge my battery, put it in the camera and press the shutter. How am I doing? :D

JS, I did two DVD's for the football team. Boy, the coach is so happy he already told me I have permission to be on field again next year. Anyway, my point is I'd like to send you some copies of my DVD's. Some of the pics are horrible, but they were put in because they were plays etc... Just keep in mind I'm a novice at best.

Do I have a point here? PM me your address and I'll send the two DVD's out to you if you'd like. Is OT around? I'd love to send some to him too.

Anyway, everyone have a great day. I'm off to go roast a 15+ pound prime rib. :)

Congratulations on the camera! That's an unbelievable Christmas present. You are psyched!

Make sure you condition your battery. Before you start using the camera, discharge it completely and recharge it once. That's important if you want to get a good life and a good charge from that battery.

LOL, it won't take long to get used to that new beast. It's intimidateing at first, but they are easier to use than you'd expect. I have found a few things out with it since you have been away....the more I use it the more I like it. :)

Yup, OT is hiding somewhere. He probably has the kids over today though....now theres something I need  ....oopppsss. guess a wife would be a start though
PRIME RIB!! (droooling) .....I'm in trouble today... even McDonalds is CLOSED!

JS, please tell me you aren't home alone today.

I wish I could overnight you some primerib. This roast is a beast!

I do have to admit I am very curious how much you could pack away. They (whoever they are) say 6 ounces is a serving. Are "they" right? :D

lol, don't do that, I may just end up at your door the day after..... :D

Ummm, well, a dog, a cat, and ME! With these two I'm not completly alone.

6 oz....no way! I can eat one of those big lazagna (sp?) dinners from Krogers myself, and they are over 2lbs.....and still have room for more

but I still fit the same size pants I wore in high school 27 years ago :D

Wow, JETA. Congratulations on the new camera. That's an awesome surprise.

I'm sorry to hear about your family. I'm glad to hear that everyone is getting better, but it has been a little lonely without you around here to critique.

No big deal. Who wants to wait? Just plug it back in and hit that refresh button, let it drain, and then recharge. Then you've cycled the battery once and it's ready to go.

OH good! I was hoping you'd say that. I haven't turned on the camera once since I read your post. I'm going to go put the battery in the recharger. I'm not used to the refresh. My batteries are not like that in my Rebel. My old old video cam had that.

JS, I have a feeling if you were here there'd be no leftovers.. ;) I can't get over how much you eat and stay so thin. Something about that isn't fair. Hope you found something nice to ear and in MASS quantities. :)

Thanks Masdog. We were all pretty sick, but my daughter's illness go frightening. She ened up with an allergic reaction to her antibiotics. From there it went into serum sickness and that is when she got really sick. All her joints swole, she couldn't walk. She wasn't getting better and the docs had some concern that she may have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthiritis (JRA). We are fairly certain now that she does NOT have JRA. Too much information so I'll keep going. LOL Here is a pic of her. She's my baby and only girl. She has 3 big brothers. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/juliels/first%20day%20of%20school%202005/216_1677.jpg

Anyway, the camera for xmas was pretty over the top & feel kinda embarrassed about it. I don't know what possessed my husband..... I just hope I can put it to good use.

If you'd like to see the DVD's I'd be more then happy to send them to you. Just remember. I'm the shoemaker novice. :D

JETA,

She's a doll. I'm glad that her illness is getting better.

Don't feel embaressed about the camera. Your husband got it because it would take your mind off of everything that was going on. It sounds like a very sweet gesture.

I would love to see the DVD, and I will PM you my address after the holidays are over. And don't worry, I didn't start my sports photography this summer.

Hahahaha, no, didn't eat much today...three hotpockets and three doughnuts....

Your daughter is so cute! You have a great subject to try out doing portraits :) That camera and your 70-200 will do great!

I am glad she is doing better. That does sound scary. Hopefully they will figure out what was going on. Anyone can be or become allergic to anything at any time.

JS, you sound like a college student. That was my diet for a couple of months, and surprisingly, I think I lost weight.

Hey JETA so good to hear form you. I have been wondering if you had forgotten all about us once football season was over. So sorry to hear about the sickness in the family. We had a similar experence over Thanksgiving. My oldest daughter came home and ended up in the hospital and had gall bladder surgery. She and her six month old son ended up with us for three weeks, her husband driving back and forth from Nashville every weekend to see them about a 5 1/2 hour trip. All is well now and Christmas has been a blast with the kids home. My son is in from Texas and we hadn't seen him since April. Well I could go on and on, but let me just say it's great to have you back and I am so glad for you with the great Christmas present. I know that you will put it to very good use. Keep in touch.

not this one! it's alright, hotpockets and donuts are great for the body. I eat so much junk food and never gain any weight also.

Great to see you back JETA! like others have said, don't worry about feeling guilty about the camera. if your husband didn't want to get it for you, he wouldnt have. Sounds like a great present though, and it's good to hear that your daughter is getting better. Cute picture too!

Thanks Masdog! She's my baby doll. :)

Yes, it was a VERY sweet gesture from my husband. I think he loves how much I love shooting our team. Not to mention when the rain got really bad at a few games he got to come down to the sidelines to hold an umbrella over me. lol

Today I had the time to do a minimal amount of reading on my camera. Lordy, what have I got myself into? I think having only 4 shots in a row was a good thing. The 1D isn't a camera, it's a machine gun! Freaked me out! I need to figure out where I'm going to need to set this baby. 8 shots per second is crazy!

Don't forget to PM me your address. Is Livin still around? I'd like to send them to him too.

Hotpockets and doughnuts?? I'm officially jealous of your metabolism!

Thanks for you kind comment about my daughter. She seems to love having her pic taken. Not like me at all. I despise it!

Sorry to hear about your daughter. What a painful deal. Hope she is healing swiftly and feeling like her old self.

Sounds like Christmas was wonderful being surrounded by your family. How wonderful!
