The post below about photo of the year inspired me to offer these totally informal, subjective, off-the-cuff, not endorsed by PR.com or its sponsors, awards. As I have said before, this is a unique sort of site in my experience -- populated by generally nice and helpful people who share a common passion.

Anyway, wthout further ado:

Best Self-Portraits:
Villendecorte, Almo (that bio one with the snake), Adina, WalterRick, Speed (the triathalon “skin” shot), NatBeach, KellyBean

Best “Adoration of Your Spouse” photos:
Speed and OldTimer

Best “Adoration of Your Kids” photos:
Adina, Lionheart, NatBeach

Most Unusual Point of View:
Yoyo Szetzo

Best at Making Something out of Nothing (Photographically):
Gahspidy

Most Unfailingly Positive (but also with something to say) in Critiques:
Chunk, Liz, Sebastian (just kidding on that last one!)

Photographer I’d Want to Hire if I Owned a Magazine:
Sebastian, or MtbBrian or PhotoJohn for the outdoors, ACArmstrong for Cosmopolitan (or Playboy), SmartWombat for Cars, FotoWillem for "Life"

Photographer I'd Hire to Shoot My Wedding:
Hodgy or Speed (if he would bring the tractor.)

Most Youthful Exuberance and/or Busiest:
Jar_e and Payn817

Most Helpful in Offering Advice to Other Members:
AsylumSteve, AnotherView and PeterAus

Most Passionate:
PaulNJ (Bird Nerd), Megan and Mtbbrian (Holgaists)

"Ranger Ricks"
Knight, MJS1973

I have all of you to keep me on my toes, and since I am old, got alot of catching up. Being poor, and this boring town helps a great bit too! LOL

Seriously though, I too am glad you are here LL.

I am honored to say the least to be included in your awards, and to be alongside Speed makes it even more memorable. There is little doubt that Speed and I both married well above ourselves and should in all fairness take every opportunity to share that knowledge with anyone that will listen or gaze upon the image we create of our queens.

The one glaring weakness I found in your awards was the omission of any recognition of the wonderful nature/wildlife and macro image you yourself display regularly on these assorted forums.

We have a wonderful community of photographers that have contributed so much to the pleasure of been a participant here at PR. I bow to each of you and feel everyone that joins in on a regular basis deserves an award and tip of the hat. Thank everyone for your continued contiributions.

What a great idea - and thanks for including me in the lineup - and for giving me a "positive" vote. ;)

I enjoyed reading your post - found it interesting and thoughtful.

I'm honoured to be in the list.

When's the deadline for the first issue?

Thanks LL. Any time I'm on a list next to Liz is indeed an honor.
One category you overlooked is Photographer whose images should not be missed which for me would start out LL, OT, Tuna, Gary, ... and go on to list about a half a hundred others on here.

Ah. "Ranger Rick" is a children's magazine in the US featuring outdoors/animal content. I'm not sure when it started, but I subscribed to it as a child in the late 1970's. It was bit like a light version of National Geographic. The term "Ranger Rick" has come to be used as a description of someone who is a nature enthusiast.

I loved that magazine as a kid, but I haven't seen it in years.

Passion huh :) I am passionate about EVERYTHING I do come to think of it .

I definately fit your discription of "Ranger Rick" far better , but I am a borderline maniac when it comes to birding and wildlife in general :)

You, LL, are not too far behind me in the bird shooting catagory though! Infact I bet you shot more bird images than me this year ;)

Yes Paul, OT too, but neither were for actual sports photos, which I think is what Liven means. Sports photography is the unwanted child to many...no biggy. Liven I beleive felt that the sports side of things was left out. He isn't used to that, but over time will see we are left out a lot. It doesn't bother me a bit, and I have come to expect it, and it's one reason I avoid competitions.

You honor me, Lava Lamp. I am grateful beyond words. My kids are my passion these days, and photography is my only useful tool for capturing memories for my later years :D
(not to mention, that I just don't get out much these days).

Thanks. While I feel I do many things well (photographically), when it comes ot the scope of this web site, I focus my energies primarily on helping others. The fact that you notice must mean I'm doing something right.

BTW, my helping the members here has helped ME more than you'll ever know...

Awesome!

I made the list! I only hope that I can continue to deliver good images in the year to come.

Any list will inevitably have omissions, errors, and judgement calls. No offense intended or love intentionally withheld -- we have many fine sports photographers around here.

Well, hopefully, I can make the list next year.

Hey JS, can I get one of those logos? It may be a Rebel, but it's still a Canon. :D :D

And I know all about being at war with yourself; I have Irish, English, Dutch, German, Shawnee and Cherokee.
